The best Grand Theft Auto game- and that's not even including the main big online multiplayer mods. Don't get the digital distribution versions, get the v1.0 original disc version from an online retailer or a physical store that sells old games, e.g. Amazon.

Though, regardless, the Steam version runs a lot better on Linux with SilentPatch (+Silent's ASI Loader to load it), and these command line arguments:

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="vorbisFile,vorbisHooked=n,b" %command%

The best Call of Duty game.

It seems if I want my name to fit into Call of Duty: Black Ops (1), the best I can go with that fits is: "novichan she/her", TIL

EDIT: This game does not work well on Linux at the moment. Setting your mouse polling rate to 125Hz, disabling your compositor, disabling vsync in-game (sync every frame = no), uncapping the FPS, and lowering your settings as much as is reasonable for keeping the highest FPS you can possibly get, can help. Also, see here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Call_of_Duty:_Black_Ops#Performance_issues_on_Linux

Though, regardless, the game runs somewhat better on Linux for me with these command line arguments: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

Fix missing music/sound effects in Source Engine games (Valve games, etc.) on Fedora

Unfortunately, on Fedora, some Valve games have a bit of an issue regarding completely skipping playing certain audio files.
None of this causes any crashing, but can lead to a worse gaming experience, confusion, and the appearance of buggyness- and generally isn’t great.
To work around this, please refer to the following steps, and all the games’ audio will then work perfectly.

You need to open your Terminal emulator, either from the usual application menu place, or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T, or sometimes it’s Super+T AND THEN type the following into it, entering your password when it prompts you.

sudo su
sudo setsebool -P selinuxuser_execheap 1

That’s it. Your game will now function as intended, enjoy being able to hear the soundtracks, music, sound effects, etc! Especially ‘Still Alive’, and the banger that Half-Life 2’s soundtrack is, amongst others.

valve pls fix

EDIT:
game pogs
OLD REVIEW BELOW, THEY FIXED THE BOT PROBLEM (FOR NOW) AND THE CRASH.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Linux users, if it crashes on launch, replace libmalloc in the game folder with the version from half life 2 linux (renamed to be the same as the one in TF2's folder) and it works.

Valve: please do something about the spinbots/hacking. In all modes, the game is literally unplayable at the moment. The game is very good, when it's actually able to be played, without constant spinbots instantly killing you entirely unfairly.

I've had over 300 hours in this game, on my previous Steam account, and more on this one- I very much enjoy it, if I'm able to play it. Right now it is unable to be played.

Please, do something about this.

EDIT, IN ADDITION: Also, the TF2 maps Mountain Lab, Pier, Mercenary Park, and Mossrock are quite unoptimized and run real badly. I'd avoid those ones generally, even if you could find a game only full of real people on them.

It's Rogue, a game so good and influential that it spawned many clones, and a whole genre- now on Steam. Given NetHack is one of my favourite games of all time, I couldn't *not* buy Rogue. It runs out of the box with no tweaks in Proton on Linux, and scales to fit the screen very well. I see myself having more hours in the Steam version that I do on the other ones, in quick time. It's also very cheap, which is a bonus. +1

Counter-Strike 2 needs more maps, notably those missing that were a part of the previous game(s). It also needs performance improvements.
