The first time I listened to Spiderland, I was so repelled by it that I think I listened to nothing but John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins for weeks afterwards. Anything to wash the blank, semi autistic, pimple faced white-boyness of this album out of my mind. Last night I had the misfortune to be somewhere "Good Morning Captain" was playing, and as they say, it was Deja Vu all over again. I'm not sure but that being able to actually hear the words being mumbled didn't make it worse.
