Great game, its so wonderful and the story is worth picking at. Id say its a bit of an investment but it rewards you with many ways to enjoy the game.

I went into this with no expectations as to what the game was, All I knew is that this was being shown as an ESSENTIAL VR title that I HAD to play and honestly, im always eager to try new games on VR and im almost always never dissapointed. This game however was probably one of the first to do so.

Up until the cyber baton, i thought the game was pretty neat, the teleporting was pretty interesting and the little story elements were interesting enough to get me to analyze all of them. Where the game falls flat for me is when I grabbed that first melee weapon.

It felt TERRIBLE. It felt clunky and slow for what seemed to be a weapon i was meant to swing around very quickly and fluidly. The boss and the enemies i had to defeat with it didn't feel like I was hitting them or reflecting them, it instead felt like I was waving a pool floaty and hoping that my commands registered what I wanted to accomplish in the scenario. I looked ahead in the upgrades to see if there was something to change about that but I didn't see anything.

Then there was the shooting. There didn't seem to be any problems with how the projectiles worked or how it seemed the gun operated with its reloading mechanics. However it still carried the batons properties of being slow to move around, which honestly would be fine since you aren't meant to swing it but the gun doesn't appear to warrant the weight that it has. Not to mention that most of the enemies (which are usually grouped up into 2's or 3's) required a reload since most felt like bullet sponges. Im sure you could upgrade the weapon to work more favorably but the first area where the gun is introduced but it didn't really feel like I was using the gun at its base form but rather a weak gimped pellet gun.

Besides the combat, there were the puzzles. Maybe the game gets better and more interactive puzzles as it goes on but from what i experienced in the hour that I played didn't feel like it was using the teleporting in any way other than just to cross gaps. I cant say much about this part but i regret to say I don't feel like it would get any better.

In the end this game dissapointed me tremendously, I loved the concept of its story and the designs of the environment. It was a bit simple but i'd honestly say that it wasnt that much of a deal to me since it felt like it was going for a certain style of location, the actual meat of the gameplay leaves much to be desired and honestly im playing VR games for the gameplay much more than anything else just because of the way that VR separates itself from other mediums for which to enjoy video games.

Ultimately i refunded the game in an hour and if the game DOES get better as you play I feel like it probably should have started with a strong foot forward rather than leave me wondering if ill waste my money on this purchase or not.

Fallout: New Vegas is Fallout done right. It may not be as intricate and as cohesive as the 2D Fallout games but It is definitely the direction the series should have taken. It introduces Multiple endings that aren't just a "good ending" and a "bad ending". This game is morally grey and It's really representative of the true nature in which the way the world operates. It also introduces factions that you can choose to side with and your standing with one can affect the others. It just has tons of depth that you just wont find in the main 3D Fallout games. Not only this but the game offers an optional mode where you are given a hunger and thirst meter, which really incentivizes collecting resources and making food which I feel is something that for the most part has been completely untouched in the rest of the series. As it stands however it's gunplay and graphics leave much to be desired. The guns don't feel like they have much weight, they feel awkward and clunky and the most of the locations feel the same for how diverse they're supposed to be in the story. Despite this though, I would still much prefer to play this game over any of the other mainline titles. It's unfortunate that OBSIDIAN isn't likely to direct a new Fallout.

(I might comeback and update this as I feel I havent added as much as I would like.)
