In my opinion, this game is one of the most well balanced games in the "idler" category. What I mean by most balanced is that it functions really well as a standard idler game, by making the first hour or so of main gameplay very user interactive. As you progress further it truly turns into a mainly idler game, only needing to upgrade towers every 30 minutes or so and resetting the wave count every hour+, depending on how far into the game you are. However, it does well to balance out the players need/want to play the game as less of a idler and more of a strategy by its wide range of micro managing tasks like spells, abilities, tower combinations, tower range, research, minibosses, special events and tournaments.

I see a lot of reviews complaining about the price of the in-game microtransactions and how it promotes the pay to win aspect of the game and capitalizes on the short term dopamine rush of quick progression. And truly, I believe that all falls on the user. The microtransactions do allow for a faster progression but that is not to say there arent free-to-play options that do the same as well. If you are a person who wants to constantly feel like youre making gigantic progress and not steady strategic progress, this game probably isnt a daily player for you.

This game aims for a very specific niche of gameplay and hits it perfectly. If you are looking for something to satisfy your progression and interactive itch while doing other, more mundane, tasks on your desktop, this game fits perfectly.
