Starts out quite decently tbh, the artstyle is alright, the mechanics are fun, the soundtrack is nice, if you can ignore the horrendous story and idiotic character writing, then this is almost a good game. Up until the final world where the entire experience completely falls apart: not only the last couple of levels are absolutely agonising to play through: the second grinding level in particular took me 40 MINUTES of attempts to complete due to the almost rng tier level design - at one point I had to get hurt by an obstacle ON PURPOSE, so I could jump through the insta kill one right behind it simply because there was not enough jumping space left between them which is fokkin' atrocious, but the game also doesn't tell you that you can only start unlocking it's achievements if you GO TO OMOCHAO ON THE WORLD MAP AND TALK TO HIM SO HE CAN START GIVING THEM TO YOU AS IF THEY WERE DAILY MISSIONS IN SOME LIVE SERVICE GAME. I found this out of complete accident right after finishing my playthrough at the 7 hour mark. The game also expects you to FARM RESOURCES IN ORDER TO PROGRESS THE STORYLINE AS THE LEVELS ARE LOCKED BEHIND A RESOURCE NUMBER CHECK. Farming itself as a concept is fine, it was also a thing in Sonic Unleashed, but over there it was all for skill based xp gathering, for unlocking new movesets and making yourself more powerful in the long run, not an actual lock on the game's story progression. You can actually complete that game with a level 1 Werehog/Hedgehog if you want to and if you're good enough. You CAN'T complete Sonic Lost World without backtracking to earlier levels to farm resources. I'm afraid that all the late game shenanigans and the more rehtarded gameplay functionalities have irreversibly soured the game experience for me. People say that '06 is bad, but that game still has basic working functions such as actually giving you it's achievements. '06 doesn't want you to have 5000 rings in total to access the next level and '06 doesn't expect you to understand and perfectly execute completely unexplained mechanics that are mandatory for game progression and will result in you getting stuck in a boss battle for 15 minutes, because you didn't attack the boss with the ONE attack the game wanted you to and never had to use anywhere else before. This is the worst Sonic game I've played so far. Never again.
