The writing in the game is pretty chill and funny, the mechanics are very standard but capturing the monsters is a bit annoying with the whole food system. Also the gem equipment system is rather boring and grindy making you feel like you need the double or triple down on a certain stat gem to put your creatures up to par with the game.

The stamina sistem in this game is atrociously bad, it makes the game borderline unplayable in the beggining forcing you to put status points into it just to be able to play. Furthermore i can tell it is supposed to be a souls like, however, it does not know its own limits and the limits of the poor choices it made. Remember imunity frames? Yeah, those, so, to say they are unreliable is an understatement and you will get what i mean when you have to fight a squad of four or more AoE attackers in a tiny platform. Besides that, consumables, there aren`t any, you only have your heals. That means that if you need better mana or stamina regen you better be able to hit enough times while dodging and not taking too long to fill your rage bar, otherwise, too bad. You also have no buffs for damage or defense or how to imbue your weapons for that matter.

So how to do then? Well, you have leveling which requeires 2 full levels for the points to have literaly any effect (one point doesn`t make the stats affected by the leveled attribute to actually go up) and the actual way to do it: leveling your weapong and find better gear. Thats it, you can`t level anything other than weapons, and can`t enchant them either. So good luck dealing damage to bosses since your dps tanks in the border of midgame, not even half game, no, it tanks at the end of early game already.

Also also, on the choping block of darksouls mechanics this game decided it wouldn`t have: Animation canceling. I don`t really need to say anymore than slow weapons are unplayable, and you cannot speed up the animations through stats like in darksouls.

The last thing, staggering, yeah doesn`t work so good for you, does work wonders for your opponent, know why? Well the stagger is very short, and there is a point to that, specially in souls games, its called a punish, guess what this game doens`t have? Well, a punish, so fast weapons basically never stagger and when medium weapons do, who cares, you will do barely nothing with it.

TL:DR - decided to make a souls like, cut certain mechanics without know why they existed in the first place, ended with someting that clearly wants to be souls like but its just clunky and frustrating for no reason, just a bad time.

The story is quite basic tale of war and regret, but it is well executed at that.
On the gameplay front is pretty smooth tho there will be some animation lock that breaks the flow of combos and some short jumping here and there that might be slightly anoying.
But for the overwhelming majority of the time its a nice chill time.

Also reminds me of deadcells which is a plus.

EDIT: i actually didn`t lost my luxury pass character! I was just logging in with the wrong method and have since bound my character, been having a good time since, just getting rolled over by the monsters tho `:D

Beware! If you open the game through steam your account's characters are NOT SAFE! You need to bind your account to social media in-game or you will lose your character! I've lost mine, 133h in and with the luxury pass, nothing they can do to reinstate the lost data since my account wasn't bound to any social media.

Yes, this game has amazing music, also cool combat gameplay with the class switching mechanic, also, tons of combos to try out, and, pay attention, there are no anti-synergies! Amazing ain't it? Well, it does exist, also has a cool narrative going in the back which is pretty eyecatching with some nice narration in korean, beatifull.

This game is so chill, fun, and full of little puns and references mixed with the beatifull art style it becomes really iresistable, even more so for me since i followed the story and development of this game which made me love it even more, that is why i got it platinum'd, twice!

The controls feel extremely junky, the ranged attacks are unusable, every quest objective is a million miles away for reasons i cannot understand, in fact you will get through this feeling a lot: "I don't understand what is going on" because there is a lot left in the air, like:

" Why is there a scroll bar if when i select the sword i cannot attack with it? Well, that is because you might not know but you have a diferent tool equiped and there for cannot use the sword. "How could you tell you had something else equipped? " You cant.

Things like these are sprinkled all around the game, these little things that make you go " did anyone not think that after you die getting only 20 hunger back and nearly recovering no health is unneeded? Or that putting whit obstacles on a white map with a white character was a bad idea? Why is it so complicated to simply tell my character to collect what i want?!"

Very bad game, poor overall staff working on it, server is crap, gamigo is s***, mos of the comunity are blind agressive children that think a dying RPG like this is a god send and keeps attacking people who criticize this train wreck of a game. It has only gotten worse these past few years, especially after the "lauch" which didn't really change anything 1.0 might aswell have been just another beta. Don't be fooled by the 846 hour mark on steam i've played this game for over 1.3K hours on the Glyph laucher before it came to steam, don't play this.

Starbound to someone coming from a game like Terraria might seem lackluster overall, but stick with me when i say you can go beyond that. True, the main game doesnt really ofer that much content and all and having to do long trips and spend a tone of time gathering for a not that amazing end game is a bit less than satifying, but, like minecraft, starbound is an experience all about the modding. If any of these things made you feel like not buying the game, rest assured for there are hundreds of mods out there who fix all of the problems i listed before and add so much more, i managed to spend about 500h in this game and barely 10% of that were the main product, and believe when i say it i'm still having fun!
