Like the sump of a hive spire , this game is riddled with bugs. I don't mean radiated giant cockroaches, I mean almost useless and inept AI, and all manner of bugs that will regularly prevent you from completing even the 'tutorial'.
Which is a shame, because I have been waiting patiently for this title since it was first announced a few years ago.

It looks great (even on my min spec potato laptop at min graphics options), and despite all the bad reviews about almost everything to do with this game, I found the UI, the 5 person teams, and everything else a winning combo. Except for dem bugs. The person responsible for allowing/insisting this be released as is should be taken out to a public place and beaten mercilessly with an ocean going mullet.

This is the last time I pre-order anything with the names RF or FHI attached.
It gets a thumbs up from me because despite its many flaws from being kicked out the door too early, I have racked up 42 hours in 3 days, so that must say something for it, ( or about me :P )

Until (and if) patches roll out, I would only recommend this game to the most patient of gamers (and Mordheim COTD players.)

UPDATE: A few patches in, and it is getting better. Still a lot of things to patch up, but much more stable, and the A.I. behaviour has improved greatly!

Normally I would say a game is good value if the 'Hours Of Game Time' > 'Number Of Dollars Spent'. In this case, the game is around $20 AU, and it took me 5 hours to reach the ending, (even though it only felt like 2 or 3). So, by using this formula I should say that this game was not value for money, but it was. Unlike a lot of the negative reviewers, I did my research and knew I was buying a walking simulator, (or to be more accurate a vertical climbing platform cross boating explorer game)

One of those simple games you can play one handed while you eat dinner, there is no falling, no dying, no starvation, no raiders come to take your stuff. It is just a very relaxing kind of game that tells a simple story without relying on verbal exposition or monologue.

The mostly piano sound track fits perfectly with the atmosphere, and the graphics are beautiful even on my potato laptop. There are a lot of other games that a lot of other people might get more enjoyment from for the same price, but I personally am happy that I spent my money on this one.

If you are looking for a relaxing de-stress game, don't go past this one!

Early Access Review
Yeah its a long term Beta, Beam Team Pty Ltd is an independent video game studio based in Brisbane, Australia.
The team consists of two developers, Ben Massey and Sam Edwards. That's two guys, not a dev team army like some games, so if you are interested in survival crafting games, with massive quantities of content and weekly updates, this is not the game for you. What you do get for your money is a slowly expanding game that appears to be crafted by people who care.

Theres no cannibals, dinosaurs, or zombies to kill you ingame, only snakes, sharks and poisonous fish, and as multiplay hasnt been added yet, you can play at your own pace without fear of hoardes of school wagging kids destroying your shack while you are not there. A map editor is included for builder junkies like myself. While this game is a long way behind the forest, rust and others of that ilk, it is as i said, being made by a small but enthusiastic Dev Team.

If you are looking for a completed bugless game, go away, this is not for you, I dont want to see your whinings in the forums. However if you actually understand what an Early Access game is, and enjoy relaxed open world survival games you might enjoy this game as much as I do.
