A very fun and replayable game, albeit somewhat limiting when it comes to the game world, though mods can fix these issues, i highly recommend picking up the game with its dlcs for the full package, without dlcs, it can be somewhat limiting but you can still have tons of fun due to the modding community, would recommend this game to anyone i know to try this game out once.

TLDR: God awful mobile game that got a god awful PC port. If you're a OG or a new player, avoid this game like the plague, it aint worth it. Game is too predatory with its MTX's with constant pop ups enticing you to spend money so you can buy the best things which enables a cycle. If you want a pixel block shooter like this but more F2P friendly and not predatory, i recommend Pixel Strike, its just a much better alternative, albeit smaller community.

Honestly, I don't even know what to say, when I was told that Pixel Gun 3D was on steam I got a sudden case of whiplash, like "What? This game is on steam?? How? Well, I wonder if its the long awaited Pixel Gun World that everybody wanted" and to my disappointment its the pc port of the mobile game, Great.

Lets get to the good parts. It has mouse and keyboard support so you dont have to play with bad touch controls, yay! you can transfer your mobile account to PC, yay! and higher resolutions, yay! Battle royale is ok, helluva lot better than the standard mp modes and you can have fun with friends if you're playing squads, although they too have its fair share of flaws.

That's all the positives things i can say about this game, cause my god, this game is one hell of a nightmare.

Lets get to the elephant of the room, this game is absolutely riddled with microtransations and the grind is horrid. To quickly get past the OG Yap session, Back in the old days of PG3D you could buy the best weapons in the game with only coins and that's it, no premium currency, nothing, just grind long enough to get the required level and buy it, then gems were introduced as a premium currency as the sole currency to rent out weapons for a limited amount of time if you wanna try them out and then eventually they became the sole currency to buy the best of the best weapons and gear. And honestly, it's baffling how worse it's gotten now over the span of its life time, Want the prototype which is objectively the best starter level sniper in the game? Gems. Want good tools and throwables in later levels? Gems. Want to not get destroyed in a single shot? Gems. Pay up man, hell when typing this out there's a bunch of "deals" for the "Newcomer's Choice" bundles, A bundle that gives you 1k Gems, 2k Coins, and 2 of the objectively best weapons for your level for all the low cost of $20 that has a 80% discount so you don't have to spend $100? Sign me the hell up! Course you can still get good weapons strictly with coins only but many issues rise when bringing this up:

1: The grind is too long especially with how poor the payout is, 4 coins??? 4???, 8 coins when you do the first match of the day.
2: Weapons costing gems will always be better compared to their coin counterparts. It just is.
3: You can upgrade your weapons with coins (and gems, or only gems depending on the weapon) but eventually you'll be forced to upgrade the weapons rarity, which will cost you gems.
4: You also have to account all the other shenanigans this game has, like loot boxes, crates, rng blueprints, eggs, pets, clan wars etc.

Long gone the days of fair grind, i know this game is free to download and Cubic Games need to make money but my god this is not the way to do it. Hell don't get me with the constant key dangling in the main menu telling you to spend money so you can get objectively better gear.

And onto the next part, lack of options, like seriously, no keybinds? No keybinds at all? its 2024 what are they possibly thinking? And no graphical options to turn off the god awful motion blur that's automatically on. A part of me tells me this port was rushed due to non of these options being available at all at launch, hell they been trying to get this game on pc for a while, but c'mon, do better.

Matchmaking is a joke. Starting out as a new player, you get put into bot lobbies so you can get a dopamine hit when killing bad AI then after a few games you get matched with real players, issues arise when you realize some of these players are a bit too high leveled and have the more powerful items that you don't have access to yet (or spent the money) which becomes a constant tug of war between you and them, course they are still kill-able but its tedious now if they have the cooler stuff you cant get at the moment.

The BR mode is just get the epic cool yellow-red colored rarity guns so you do more damage to the enemy, you don't even need to try at all, just get lucky and shred people instantly with the insane damage these guns have, but its indefinitely a lot better than the core MP game modes since you have a chance to do this to anyone for free if you're lucky enough.

God this is honestly depressing, I know people wanted Pixel Gun on PC for a while and Pixel Gun World was a glimmer of hope for everyone who wanted the OG Pixel Gun before that got canned. If you wanna play this game, sure go ahead, If you wanna spend 100's of dollars on a mobile game port just to dunk on the whole lobby with the most overpowered thing, with pleasure, I aint stopping you, If you find it fun then by all means go crazy with it, this review is for those who wanna check this game out either by curiosity, or simply nostalgia for the old times, If you're an OG Pixel Gun player, avoid this game, it isn't worth tarnishing your memories with this game at its state, if you're a new player wanting to check it out, avoid this game like the plague, it isn't fun at the slightest if you want the MP experience. If you spent 100's to even 1000's of dollars on this game (why would you), sure, go ahead, Make it worth while.

Pixel Gun is like that friend you knew way back in high school, they were awesome to be around, cool to talk to, but after years of no contact, you find out they are just a husk of their former self, and only the memories of those good times just linger around.

For some reason if you want a free to play shooter game with this blocky style that's more free to play friendly than Pixel Gun, i recommend Pixel Strike, it has a smaller player base but with non of that P2W stuff and decent grind, I played it years ago and the game drastically changed a lot since them, maybe you'll like it as well.

even in mmod, xen still is the worst chapter in the game, but at least it make up for it with the half life equivalent of the bfg
