The greatest thing about EU4 is that, besides all the missions and goals you can follow, you are free to do whatever you want.

It isn't easy (I think the hardest Paradox strategy game), but once you overcome the steep learning curve you can do anything you want.
Either make the Netherlands a great trading nation like IRL. Or just stomp everyone around with Ulm.. or just be quiet island nation somewhere east-Asia.

I'm not explaining it right but the fun part is you can do so many things with so many different nations which makes the replayability of this game great. And a 400 year campaign takes LONG. You do not even need mods like the extended timeline mod to enjoy yourself.
Im 400 hours in and even that are considered rookie numbers.

And yes there a lot of DLC and yes they all cost money, but so far everything has been worth it.
Buy this game if you like playing a complex grand strategy sim.

Do not buy this is you just want something simple.
