TLDR: Are you familiar/like actively aimed/directional combat? Do you enjoy balanced PvP on a large scale? Are you comfortable with Discord communication for Clan/Alliance communication? If you can answer these questions with yes then test this title immediatly!

About 550 hours into this now, I think it's time for a review.

First of all: thumbs up for the state of game regarding the early access. It's fully playable, balanced, includes lot's of tutorials and help how to get started.

When I actually started this game I just quitted NewWorld for it's broken gameplay, cheats, exploits, economy and pvp balance. Within one of the flaming forum posts there I read about this gem as a side note and decided to give it a try.
I was kinda shocked when I launched it for the first time. It's no AAA title and the look of the game is quite antique compared to all the unreal4 engine games out there, but boy how did I get sucked into this game anyways.
It didn't take long to no longer miss the graphics of modern AAA titles. Following the questchain you get more and more endgame related challanges to overcome while boosting your level to point where you can jump right into the guild activities once you are done.

The PvP part of this game is mainly group related. While arena fights like 1on1 PvP does exist, the game focusses more around the open world map and shifting the borders to your factions' favor. Group fights can be won by plain numbers, gear and skill. While there are players already playing this game for about 4 years now and noone will negate the fact that the combat experience/skill of those players are outstanding, anyways new players can set a mark on the battlefield, it's all about team comunication and strategic acting. Discord is the choice of communication for most of the clans/nations.
The borders on the open world map shift back and forth every day, there is not one nation dominating the other two. There are barely boosts for the dominatng nation, in fact, holding many castles will make it harder and harder to defend them all. Further there is an underdog system implemented that encourages to pick up the fight against the dominating nation.

While the game description might give you the impression you could go solo in this game, technically this might be true. I wouldn't recommend the game for lone players or PvE players though. While there are some save zones, the valuable resources spawn deep in the danger zones and there you will be an easy pick.

I really appreciate the community of this game. At least in my faction everyone was helpful to me as newbie and I barely see hateful trashtalk in the chat. A mentor system rewards experienced players to help so called greenleafs.

As summery I would recommend this game for any large scale PvP loving player. While the look of the game might feel antique, this game delivers concepts to many PvP aspects that killed the balance and success of other PvP centered MMOs of the past.

Do you love Dwarves? Do you enjoy Co-Op? Then go no further, your search is over, this is the place you want to be.

DRG is one rare proof, that great games don't need the most realistic graphics, but come with a neat idea and the eye for detail. And there is a whole lot of that in DRG. Even if you are no Dwarf by heart, you will be after some time in the deep.

So grab some friends and jump into some quick missions and do what dwarves would do. Mine ore, fight bugs, drink some beer, kick some barrels and enjoy some cozy hours below the surface.

10 Jahre dauert unser Kampf nun bereits an.
