Played the original and have yet to put much time into Infinite but I noticed it runs way smoother at the highest settings compared to the original release. Maybe it's more optimized now but definitely an improvement there. Seems less arcade-y than before but it really is an amazing looking game considering the small team that worked on it. Reviews point to it not being too long. The previous version was roughly 30-45 mins tops. Can't really complain since I received the product free due to owning the original.

A most welcomed/faithful "Update" to the original Nier game.

It is pretty much a carbon copy of the original game released in 2010 with updated Graphics as well as Re-Arranged Music with a smoother Combat System. This release is an "Updated" version of the Replicant release of Nier which originally was a Japan only release where the Main Protagonist is the Brother trying to save his Sister as opposed to the Gestalt release that was localized where it is the Father trying to save his Daughter. It also features cut content that did not make it in the original release as well as a new ending "E" route that was originally only written in a Novel/Novella segment of one of the Concept/Art Books of the original Nier. The original endings stopped at ending D which was the Best Canon ending at the time.

The fact that it is basically a carbon copy might be a turn off to some because of its dated game design. I overall enjoyed my "re-experience" with this game, all side-quests as well as the grind. The new combat system made it a blast to re-experience it all. It does include the old original DLC built into the game and does have new DLC available in the steam store page to help alleviate some of that grind. But, I do think some of that content might be a bit jarring to new players.

The updated graphics may not be the up to standards to most current AAA visuals but it is an aesthetically pleasing upgrade that helps improve/modernize the original game.

The Re-arranged music makes it feel like I'm listening to the music again for the first time, further enhancing my experience playing through the game. The updated tracks were great and in addition to that I was surprised to hear one of the new themes that pretty closely reflects off the team's time working on the Nier raids in FFXIV. In one of the new segments that was added from the cut-content from the original Nier. The theme seemed to had a segment from Heavensward within it.

Carbon copy aside, I think it is in a good place for fans of Nier Automata to experience the original story. The updated graphics and combat really give it a more modern look and feel. The side quests can be jarring to complete but on the plus side if you get them all done on your first play-through, you won't have to do them again when working on the rest of the endings.

The Ending E route is a must-experience bit of this "updated" game. It does require a bit to get to that point but I highly recommend sticking with the game until the very end and making the journey to get there.

Code Vein has that GE aesthetic in the art style down to the skill types with the Souls-ish combat. If you enjoyed the GE series you won't want to miss out on this title. The art style and character design is a more updated version of GE with Ufotable working on the animations yet again as well as Go Shiina on the music composing side of it (which is always an amazing combo).

Gameplay wise its a pretty much easier than the typical souls game so those looking for a hard/challenging game to play, this might not fill that itch for difficulty.

Co-op is also more on the souls-side than GE. It isn't a complete co-op experience where you can join in on the story together throughout every bit of it. More like a drop in and help a friend (only 2 player co-op if you didn't already know). You can only join in on a player's progression/game if the Boss of the current level hasn't been defeated. So no re-doing zones/bosses that have been cleared. It isn't mission based, it's based on story progression and atm the only way to replay it is in NG+.

Story is rich and pretty much the main hook for the game for me. I really enjoyed seeing the characters develop and learning more about the game's lore. Yes, it is the typical "silent protag, forgets memory (minor spoiler although mostly everyone has memory loss in this game lol ) and becomes part of a bigger situation upon waking up." But, the way the story unfolds is creative in the way you progressively "unravel" everything.

Major Spoiler-ish details I was half expecting the CV universe to connect to the GE one and had a laugh at the Bugarally doll (gift item) reference. Thought that little bit was a nice head nod but I wasn't expecting to see a Dyaus Pita (bread) in the game. It proved that they are in the same universe but I won't go into detail how.

GE3 maintains for the most part an identical control/combat system like the previous games with some new additions adding onto the burst arts.

The story was really enjoyable and had decent amount of character interactions like previous games. Of course, the content amount is more measured in comparable to the previous games' pre-burst editions so it does not contain the same amount of content as GEB/GE2RB (Character episodes/event quests/etc). But, they do seem to have plans on adding onto the game with free updates, some already that have released but as of the review I have not checked it out.

The GE series are for sure a faster paced hunter(monhun) type of game with more of a story side towards it's universe. It was a really fun story driven coop game with play with friends.

Spoiler-ish Comments

Was hoping for more previous game cameos like in GEB and GE2RB. Hopefully with future updates and wishful thinking we can see a large amount of the cast return.

Pretty decent PC port. Over time they fixed and patched initial issues with the game. Played to HR 260ish on ps4 and am really enjoying the higher fps and smoothness of the steam version. As we all know, we're waiting on the limited time events to catch up to ps4's but they have been working hard to keep up and actually have been close with getting the Halloween festival up in time. In addition they seem to have synched timing the ps4 festivals starting with the Winter fest.

Friendly to newcomers to the series, but apparently still not for the faint of heart in some ppl.

Nice convenient changes from the original games but still needs some QoL changes.

Still a work in progress but very fun and has a lot of variety in skillsets making every player unique in combat. Also has some funny game refrences.
