Such a cool concept.
The scenery and overall designs are really neat.
The only problem is finding out about the game so early in developpement and having to wait for the full release.

Fun little souls like.
Game looks and feels good.
It's not that hard but still challenging during certain fights.
Lots of little rooms to look for when exploring with possibility of multiple endings.

First, yes at full price, the game is absolutely not worth it.
And the deluxe version is honestly a scam.
But if you manage to get it on sale, which it often is (I got the deluxe for 5 euros on steam), then the game is actually pretty fun.
It definitely has its flaws, optimisation is not perfect, game gets a bit repetitive if you keep playing the same character, but overall, I had a really good time playing it.

The worst aspect of the game is the live service part, it's just grind to get loot or the new characters (you don't need to pay to get them like I first thought).
But the main story is pretty fun, it even managed to make me chuckle a few times but also sigh at other moments.

I would've liked the game to be more of a hack and slash, where it just lets you kill bunch of ennemies at high levels, but sadly, during the grind for the different post game episodes, the game just tries to stop you from having too much fun (snipers block your movement abilities, ennemies get the green lantern shield, more of them have armor you need to break in close range to then deal damage).

So yeah, for max 20$ the game is good, but more than that, except if you have a lot of money to waste, then wait for a sale.

I'll just start by saying that i'm not a fan of One Piece, I have not watched or read it in years.
I really did enjoy the game and a lot of the negative will be nitpicking more than anything. They need more explaining as to what is the problem which make it seems long but is not that much in reallity.
I'll also avoid spoilers except a very very very minor one that doesn't reveal anything important.

tldr : game is very fun but has a few missed opportunities and small issues.
Really good if you like one piece.
Might be nice if you know about it and are lightly interested in its world like myself.

For the good parts of the game first.

It look really nice and fits the artstyle of the anime very well.
A unique story but still very tightly related to past stories of the manga played with a different perspective.
I'm not a big JRPG player but the combat system was pretty unique and fun.
Being able to walk around in important places is neat (although your characters are a bit slow).
You can control most of the strawhats even outside of fights (has some issues i'll explain later).
Lots of content if you don't ignore what's unnecessary but might get repetitive at some point.
Had no issues at all playing with mouse and keyboard.

For the issues I have, because the game is far from perfect.

I do not believe it to be any important spoiler as it is something you find out about very early on in the game and is core to it but, if you truly want to know nothing story wise then careful :
most of the game allows you to explores the past places your characters have been to. I'll only tell the first one which is Alabasta. Except you have access to your whole crew, but instead of playing these arcs with characters that weren't there, the game simply finds an excuse as to why you can't play them, in this case franky and brook and even robin is unavailable for a part of the story considering the role she had in it.
In summary, the game misses the chance to create something fun and unique about the story of the game and manga and stays pretty uncreative in that regard overall.

You can control almost every strawhat to explore the world and each have their own ability, which sounds pretty cool because you think you can just explore everything with your favorite character, but, you will find yourself playing as luffy most of the time since his ability to progress within areas is mandatory all the time and the quality of life of picking items from far away.
You will also spend a lot of time switching between characters whenever you need zoro to cut something or chopper's size to enter new places for exemple.
Meanwhile, characters like sanji, robin or nami have very little use and you'll explore most areas barely using them because each time you wanna swap character, you have to enter a menu, select the character you want and have a small fade to black while it switches, which isn't bad at first but gets boring very quickly.
Exploring can also be a chore despite the few teleports you have access to considering the size of some areas (mostly the cities) compared to the speed at which you move.

The game has a lot of sidequests, which seems like a good opportunity to have all you crew interact with all sorts of characters, but too many of them are about sanji being horny for the quest giver.
Seriously, characters like zoro or robin barely interact with the rest of the world during those quest, while sanji is overpresent in so many of them.
It corelates to the fact that each character is kind of stripped down to it's minimum.
Sanji is horny for every female character, zoro only talks about being lost, nami about money ...
The game focuses pretty hard on the core of the characters and not much else.

To end this here, the game is really fun.
The negative part of the review might seem long, but it's mostly a few things that need explaining as to why it's a "problem" as opposed to the good parts which is just basically explaining a few things I enjoyed and that made this game pretty good in my opinion.

Fun roguelite with a very cool mysterious and dark atmoshphere.
The art style is sweet and the world is very intriguing.
Can't wait to play on full release, with hopefully more content and lore !

The game is flawed like crazy but captures some sort of vibe mixing mmo aesthetics, shooter, rpg and stuff that makes me enjoy it.
I don't like SAO and honestly anytime the original cast of characters appear I wanna skip dialogues real bad, but some of the new ones and the original story is pretty nice.
You can go on missions with AI teamates and they are beyond stupid. They barely do damage so their only use is to heal, revive, buff and take aggro. Dying and watching them roll around trying to revive you is at the same time kind of funny but also rage inducing.
If you like SAO you will probably like the game but I really advise getting it for as little money as you can during a sale.

The work put into this is absolutely insane.
Such a creative and unique experience from start to finish.
The only real problem with the game is just how massive and lost it can feel at time, which is something I've rarely seen in such a small passion project.

I have never been so interested in the characters and world of a game.
Fighting moments are not the most interesting but everything that surrounds it just makes it all fine.
The updates really helped the game be way better (driving cars and gun fights for exemple).
Every character has life and personality even the ones you barely talk to like shopkeepers.
One of the few games where walking and driving around doing nothing is so pleasing.

Some of the content is a bit of a chore, it's kinda unfortunate when you see how that exact type of content is in the DLC.
All those gigs that are just short missions with very little interest are so much more fleshed out in the DLC.
it's not just a "kill all ennemies" or "go collect this", they each have their little something that makes them more fun and believable compared to the main game, they are less of them but with way more "lore".

The dlc doesn't add a whole lot to the gameplay of the game, but just enough for it to be fine, it's mostly its story that is really cool, even if like most game, it kind of ends up being a game where very few choices matters, but still better than in the main game.

I love this game !
The artstyle is really cool, the characters are all pretty unique and good.
The gameplay might not interest some people since it's mostly walking around collecting items that are in the end useless for the game, but the lore is really interesting and made me wish there was more.
The investigation in itself was really fun and interesting.
I don't fully get the point of having to pay in this game to fast travel around but if you take the time to collect everything you will end up with so much currency that it doesn't matter.
