I'm a straight cis male writer and have been working on female custodes 40k fiction for awhile now. I've written a dozen oneshots featuring female Custodes and they have been received well.

But I recently came across a number of posts on Reddit which had some very adamant opinions about men writing female Custodes. Basically, they thought men had no right to be writing female Custodes fiction.

I was taken aback and I have to say my confidence and motivation took a massive hit. Am I lying to my readers by not telling them I'm a dude? If they found out, would my readers be disappointed and angry? Would they send me hateful messages? Should I make room for female voices to write female Custodes fiction?

Honestly, I don't know what to make of all this, but it hit me harder than I thought it would. I've been thinking about this all week and frankly, it kinda scares me.

Seriously folks - do NOT wish for the end of the Tau. It's no coincidence that 40k got better as Tau were introduced. Diversity is good and if you're a 40k fan and want an entertaining product, you need the Tau to thrive.

The fact Naelok calls them "plastic toys" shows he doesn't care about the hobby but does it only for clout. A true fan would regard them as more than just plastic. Using the phrase "it's just plastic toys" shows your level of non commitment. It's just the same level as saying "it's just a book" or "it's just a show". True fans get attached to these things at a different level.

I am very disappointed with the Custodes community. When I got on here people were very positive for the most part. It's been great sharing lists and models, and frankly it's been a great motivator.

Today people are throwing tantrums, being over dramatic, and overall making me ashamed to play this army.

We were way, way too powerful and they overcorrected. As far as the balance sheet goes, it's certainly not thrilling. We should be sharing new lists not throwing fits.

I'm sorry if you're upset about the rules fix, but tantrums and meltdowns help no one.
