I've only played up to the first competition, didn't have the same trouble that a lot of other people did, but i think i get where most of the discord is coming from.

The game ties all it's systems in incredibly well, i wanna be clear, this game is fantastically designed, maybe one of the most well executed projects i've seen in a decade, i genuinely love this game, but if you see the characters and fall in love with them like i did, be forewarned, this is a management sim with dating sim elements, not a dating sim with management elements, the characters serve a mechanical role, raising their reputation unlocks new cards for the haggling minigame, and the game has a pretty strict time budget

If you're playing this as a management game you're likely not gonna have too hard of a time, the core loop is pretty simple, get new ingredients from the heroe's guild, donate the good ones to quinn, and use them to craft potions, then sell those potions to sustain the loop, with depth being added later on as you unlock more and more different types of potions to craft. If you know what you're doing, then balancing your time allotments shouldn't be too hard, and assuming you don't get royally screwed by some bad RNG, the first contest should be a cakewalk.

If you're just hoping for a relaxing visual novel then the aforementioned time management is likely going to seem like an annoyance, especially when the higher level hang outs cost most of your daily time allotment, and for that i'd like to make a suggestion. Give this game a casual mode that removes the day counter for the contests, or at least extends it by 5-10 days and let people more freely spend time just hanging out with their friends without worrying about the contests. let the dating sim be a proper selling point!

CK2 was an absolute brick wall for most people which was a shame cause at it's core it was an incredibly fun and engaging roleplaying game under the guise of grand strategy, CK3 streamlines the interface and simplifies it to make it much more accessible, while maintaining and refining that core roleplaying experience. If you ever heard someone describe their antics in CK2 and went "that sounds like fun" but then got turned off by the clunky and complicated menu system, then please do yourself a favour and give CK3 a try

Ok, so you may look at my playtime and say that's not a lot but if you played the game you would know it's (at this point in time) enough for about 3 runs. The game is not particularly long clocking anywhere from 2 and a half hours for a completely fresh run to under an hour for someone who knows what they're doing. So the game is short, but is it any good? Well it depends, it's a farley well crafted game, and while it's not going to be breaking any top of the line gaming rig, it doesn't look to bad for an indie game. However as i said it is rather short, and filled with very few enemies. considering it all occures in the confines of a school that's all and all about 2 halways on 2 seperate floors there's not a lot of places to put them but you can actualy finish the game only encountering about 5 actual enemies, 2 of wich are invincible and ether need to be beaten off with a stick/aggresivley photographed or outran and outmanwevered. All that being said if you let yourself get imersed you can find a suitabley creepy experience with a good number of scairs that aren't just enemies jumping out at you from obvious vents ( I'm looking at you Dead space ). If you're looking for a well crafted quick bit of horror go ahead and pick it up, with act 2 coming out as a free update in the near future this might just end up being a worthy sucessor to it's spiritual predecesor Fatal frame.
