A genuinely tense gaming experience without resorting to cheap jumpscares... and it's not even really a horror game. The devs are active within the community and if you join the steam community group you'll be notified about the community events where one of the devs livestreams the game on twitch, talks to players on teamspeak, and everyone has a really good time so be sure to check that out.

One thing people forget when commenting on how incomplete an early access game is, is how much opportunity there is to give feedback at a time where it can actually be implemented into the game. It's obvious the team is very passionate and dedicated to finishing this game so I'm not worried about that like with some others on early access.

When I read this I thought "challenge accepted" and decided to role-play through following the laws of land warfare, code of conduct, rules of engagement, UCMJ, and all that other happy crap like the hero and good guy I always am in video games.

I refused to execute the wounded as you are given the option to do, followed proper procedures for escalation of force, used the minimum amount of force necessary to achieve the objective, went to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties. I tried to do the right thing, but war messes with your head, and the road to hell is paved with good intentions...

So the gameplay... some people have criticized it but all I can say is it feels like a port to PC. Whether it is or not idk, but the controls feel a little clunky. Overall I enjoyed it and think people tend to be too critical, the gameplay is fun even if its not perfect and the story more than makes up for it.

One technical problem I ran into was no sound during cutscenes. What I did that fixed it was go into Steam\SteamApps\common\SpecOps_TheLine\Binaries\Win32 and delete binkw32.dll. Then I went into my steam library, right click on the game and went to properties, local files tab, and verify integrity of game cache. It redownloaded the file and it worked.

Fun characters, good story, doesn't take itself too seriously. Had a few CTD's and kept getting hiccups as it loaded in parts of the map while driving high-speed through the city. Although that second part is probably because I installed the game on my 5400rpm haddrive. Other than that it ran fine and I reall enjoyed being the boss of the 3rd Street Saints.

My oldest is just over 2 so I thought it would be neat to play a game from his perspective, never expecting I would get the most intense emotional experience I've ever gotten from a video game. The main game takes about 3-4 hours if you really explore, but even though it is short and not very challenging, the art and horror atmosphere are well done and makes it an enjoyable experience even if you aren't able to relate to the amazingly powerful story.

It made me smile, it made me cry, and I'll be a better parent for having played this game. 10/10

Fun game, my only complaints are that you can't change the gear on your teammates (in SP) and it takes so long to unlock things that by the time you get something really high up you're pretty much tired of playing it. Good story and challenging though so definitely worth a try.

Awesome game with hours upon hours of tower defense gameplay. I believe it is probably THE standard by which all future tower defense games will be judged. Other than the gameplay itself I really enjoyed the storyline that went along with it. The voice acting was outstanding and really rounded out the game experience.

Excellent game, it has an interesting story and challenging gameplay. The graphics are simple but it doesn't detract at all from the experience. The mechanics are solid, easy to learn, and I didn't experience any bugs (other than the ones I was shooting. lol) Lots of replayability and you can even go through the campaign again after you beat it with all the stuff you unlocked. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes strategy games and killing thousands of aliens.

EDIT 2: I've noticed older gamers, of the age where their children play the same games, have been the happiest with this game on the forums. I don't quite understand why, but it seems like the older you are the more likely you are to enjoy this game. Now to my original review...

It has come to my attention people are getting upset that I am a moderator on the forums for this game, friends with the developer, and have posted a review. I'm not trying to hide anything or trick anyone, people may not realize this but...

IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO ENJOY THE GAME I DON'T WANT YOU TO BUY IT!!!

Seriously. I don't want people to spend their money on something they won't enjoy. Even if you don't believe that, you can believe this. I don't want to have to deal with angry people being rude and disrespectful on the forums, people calling me names, telling me to "kill myself" in my review comments, and just the hatefulness in general.

In the end the game does better by ensuring only people who will enjoy the game and leave good reviews buy, because otherwise negativity chases players away who may have enjoyed it like I personally do. That is why I have posted gameplay videos that contains both features and bugs.

Yes, you heard that right, I don't edit out bugs or glitches, what you see is what you get. That way anyone watching can make up their own mind about whether the good outweighs the bad, and whether the game is for them or not.

If you read through all this, thank you. It doesn't matter whether you ultimately decide to thumb it up or thumb down, you took the time to hear me out, and I really appreciate and respect that.

EDIT: I have started a no commentary playthrough of the release version for you to get a feel of the game without any outside influences, I hope this helps you decide if the game is for you or not.

EDIT 2: Since I left this review they added a box for disclosing the game was received for free so I updated the review to reflect that I did. I also removed the ability to comment on this review because I'm done getting notifications about hateful comments.
