The first time I saw Dark Souls was in a PewDiePie video: it was awful. All I saw was this charachter running around and dying very frequently. Who in the right mind would enjoy such a "game"?
Years passed and i forgot about the existance of Dark Souls, but one day one of my friends reproposed to me the title. Of course I wasn`t enthusiast to buy it, and several monts passed until one day steam had a sale and I bought the game for 8 euros. I wasn't really good at first, also because I came from a totally different genre of games (fps), and I also really didn't like rpg games like Skyrim. Anyways I played the game, and the more I played and the more I started liking the game. Beaten my third Boss, I had decided that I wanted to finish the game. Today, Dark Souls is one of my favourite games, and I see it more like a piece of art than an actual game. Some people say that this is a hardcore game, only for really good players or for masochists, but I think it's a game that maybe not anyone can enjoy, but that anyone can at leat try to "understand". Dark souls isn't a game like others, where you die, respawn and try again. In Dark Souls there's no going back, and when you die you don't go back in time, but you continue struggling untill you finally master that part of the game. Some say that Dark Souls doesn't have a story: YOU are the story, and you move and interact in a world that is not just a usual game world, where everything is placed there because is makes up for a good scene or is just practical, but it has a gigantic backstory and a really deep lore. No one is there to tell you what's the purpose of everything, you just experience and live it.
