Fun story, like watching an 8 episode TV show, gameplay is largely pulled along by the story. There's a bit too much swearing for my liking and choices don't have a huge impact on the ending, though a few things do make notable differences. Overall good.

Great fun, interesting mechanics, good story that keeps things fresh. Fundamentally it's a puzzle game that looks like Rainbow Six with wizards. If you enjoy puzzle games this is a great choice. If you don't like puzzles, there's still a good story here to keep you occupied. Difficulty-wise it never felt too hard or too easy; you can always make it more challenging on yourself by trying to accomplish the different challenges provided for each mission,

It's okay, but not great. I finished in one playthrough, but didn't really emotionally connect with any of the characters. I was hoping for a great narrative experience based on the comments and yeah...that's mostly there, though honestly the story was a bit less interesting than I hoped as I realized the "big reveal" about halfway through and then just had it summarily confirmed. No existential sci-fi questions for you here. Honestly if you want something a bit more engaging, SOMA is about the same flavor (except a lot scarier) but with much better gameplay and story.

Not sure how to feel about this one. I guess if you're really lacking a decent RPG, this is a good pickup. Reminded me a lot of Fallout New Vegas. The story and setting were pretty good, but the combat and stealth systems felt empty most of the time. For fights, I only really enjoyed the last boss battle, everything else felt imbalanced where I was either destroying enemies easily or getting destroyed easily. For stealth, it just felt too easy--I was able to level up everything I felt was important and wasn't sure if I cared about my skill points by the end of the game. The inventory system was lacking, though had some neat ideas--I was constantly having to go and sell all the weapons and armor I picked up in fights, which was annoying, and the path for weapon upgrades kinda sucked. You can upgrade weapons for money, but its not really worth it as you'll probably find a way better weapon in another half hour. The science weapons are cool though--I suppose if you focus on them (there are perks to make upgrading them more reasonable) the weapon system might feel better--hard to say.

If you liked the plot elements in Spec Ops: The Line, Bioshock, or [kind of] Dead Space, you'll likely enjoy this game. It definitely makes you think more than most games or movies do. I am generally not a fan of horror games, but this one is thankfully light on the jumpscares and heavier on the atmosphere and story. Even if you're not generally up to tense/scary stealth, the story more than makes up for it. If you like deep thoughts, give this game a shot--you won't regret it.

It's a good thing kicking cars doesn't result in instant explosions in real life.

Seriously though, this is an awesome game. Perhaps the animation doesn't always match up that well, perhaps the zombies sometimes do funny things, but at the end of the day it does one important thing right: it remains fun and engaging. The free-running and combat are pretty smooth so far, and I have only just scratched the surface. The gameplay is great and I can't help but chuckle about some of the situations I have been in already. For those of you that have played Dead Island, Dying Light is 10x better and feels thoroughly polished with an engaging story and good voice acting.
