Just a delightful little sandbox. No more, no less.

I'd give anything for even more blocks beyond the unlocks we presently have, and to have a way to take a screenshot of the entire canvas. But there's also something beautiful about the simplicity of just experiencing the game in the moment with the limited set of pieces we get to pick from. So those are really just nice-to-haves more than dealbreakers.

I'll probably end up buying this for several people if just to give the dev more money for the amount of enjoyment I'm getting out of it.

Only got an hour or so in. So far, it seems like mostly a re-skin with some much-desired QOL changes, but that's fine by me. Not having to mess around with all those different extractors is amazing, as is the new soundtrack. The UI improvements, the new artwork, and the new slimes are just kind of icing on the cake in comparison to that alone.

Frankly I'm just happy to have another opportunity to give Monomi Park money for all the hours I sank into the original, and I'm lookin forward to whatever they end up adding to this one.

A deeply frustrating game, but not in a way that ever makes me want to quit. The art and sound design are both incredible, and the controls are as tight as they need to be for the difficulty level.

I'll probably keep playing this one long after I've beaten it, and I can't wait for Silksong.

Am I reviewing this now just to complete a task? Probably.
Do I still love this game enough to unwittingly waste hours of my day if I dare to play it?
Sure do.

I hate you, game. I hate how much I love you even though you should be completely repetitive to me at this point.

Considering how much of my life I've lost to this game, it'd be silly to give it anything other than a positive recommendation.

(Update) Am I doing this just to complete a badge? Sure. But my opinion of the game hasn't changed. Yeah, the events kind of suck if you're new to them because nobody seems to want to play with someone who doesn't miraculously have advanced knowledge of what they're supposed to do.

But the base game? Still aces.

A million and one people have played and dissected this game by now, but what's another positive review on the pile?

In internet terms it's old as hell and I still find myself coming back to it when I'm looking to kill a few hours. Brava, Klei.

Only have a few hours on record as of writing this, but I've been playing this game since the winter beta in 2014, and I've adored pretty much every minute of it. The art style is vibrant, the lore is deep, and overall the community has been one of the best that I've had the pleasure of being a part of.

Other pros:

* Best raids I've seen in any MMO, hands-down. They're fun to learn and progress through with the right group of folks.
* Active combat. None of the boring standing around in one place and punching buttons. Takes "Don't stand in the bad" to another level.
* The most immersive housing system I've ever played with. You'd be amazed at the stuff you can build.
* An extremely fair F2P model. You can buy conveniences, but you can't buy power. And if you don't wanna spend meatspace money (Protobucks), you can earn an alternative currency (Omnibits) just by playing the game and participating in content.
* Devs that listen to the community. (No, just because you didn't get your pony doesn't mean they aren't listening to people's complaints and suggestions. They've actually made a large number of changes based on player feedback over the last couple of years.)

Cons:

* Bugs can sometimes take a while to fix (I'm looking at you, Arcterra). Carbine is a smaller team these days, so I can see why. Might be off-putting to some folks, though.
* Runing your gear at high levels can get really expensive. Looks like they're looking to mitigate this cost somewhat with RMT, though.
* PvP -sorely- needs some love.
* New tutorial feels a little overwhelming. It's geared to get you into the store as soon as possible whereas the old, arkship-based introductions felt far more immersive and informative.
* Camera can be a little confusing for people coming into this game from other titles that have auto mouse-look. Takes some getting used to. Make sure you fiddle with the camera options to get it to a point where you're comfortable.
* Keyboard combat requires some finger gymnastics. I'd strongly recommend a gaming mouse if you haven't got one.

If MMOs aren't really your thing, I don't know that you'll find much here to change your mind. But it costs you nothing to give the game a try, and it's been more than enough to keep me interested for two years and some change. I'm certainly looking forward to the new raid as well as the easing of faction barriers, so I figure this game has plenty of life left in it yet.

I spent my early gaming years on titles like TIE-Fighter and Renegade, and I feel right at home in this game. The visuals, while simplistic on their face, look -really- good, and the sound design is more than immersive enough to draw me into the game. Xbox controller requires a bit of a light touch in order to aim correctly, but there are visual/audio cues enough to let you know when you're on target.

I hear it's a bit on the short side, but as much fun as I'm having with it, it's well worth the $18 I spent buying it on sale.

Six years in my library and I still haven't tired of it. Great if you've got a good music library and you wanna pick something up and play it for 15-30 minutes at a time.

Sunk twelve hours in yesterday, and today looks to be much the same.

Endless Sky is pretty complex for such a simple-looking game. Love the flavor text for all of the planets, the ship customization is pretty robust, and I love the fact that you can basically play the game as you wish. If you want to run trade routes, shuttle passengers or fight pirates, or do a combination of all three, it's up to you. And the fact that you can completely ignore the story if you'd like is an added bonus. Sometimes I just feel like amassing as much cash as I can manage without worrying about politics.

I can't wait to see what plugins come down the pipe. And I'm eager to start fiddling with them myself. They're sure to add a lot of value to a game that's already worth more to me than it's zero-dollar price tag.
