This game is extremely addicting. Haven't seen my wife and kids ever since I bought a month or two ago. I just have to conquer the entire world as Ulm, but it just keeps calling me back for more. I would call it painting the map simulator, but it's more than that its a drug like cocaine or heroin I need it to survive. Everywhere I go in real life I can't help but to think: damn, this province could really use some more development in order for the Renaissance to reach it faster. It follows me everywhere I go and I cannot leave behind that feeling that someone is building a spy network in my nation.

10/10 really do make you feel like Ulm

I've played Dayz on and off over the past year ever since it was released in game preview on the Xbox. I found out about the history of the development of the game by watching some videos, and I have to say the development cycle wasn't the best. However within the past year Bohemia has done a lot to push this game forward for one they completely re-did the engine of the game, they've been more consistent with updates (major updates come out about every 6 weeks now), and the game has become more polished.

This game, though, suits a very specific player base. The game direction has been changed dramatically since the Arma II mod and the launch of this game in 2013. The devs plan on making this game a gritty survival experience where resources are limited and high-tier loot (including assault rifles, vehicles, high powered snipers, etc.) are very hard to come by. While base building is a new feature recently introduced into the game, it is very risky to construct one because of the time it takes to build it (literally hours) compared to the time it takes to destroy one (30 mins max). Most of this game for the average player will be spawning in, getting gear, fighting in PVP areas, dying, and then restarting all over again, but if you dig deeper into the gamer rather than just treating it like a battle royale then it can be fun.
