Extremely fun and promising game. Unfortunately it's effectively stagnant and rotting with no passion or will to improve it or revamp it. It's wild how much you have to pay to play this game even to this day. Clearly by now the devs aren't interested in doing anything except the minimum maintenance required to retain a handful of nostalgic players, so hopefully some rich lunatic buys the whole thing and turns it into something amazing.

Still was neat to revisit this, but just sad to see the potential squandered by a lack of any vision or effort. Maybe one day we'll see a version of Wizard101 that isn't marketed to 6 year olds from 2013, with a disney Jonas brother still etched into one of the worlds.

Humankind is a promising game in it's genre with a lot of fresh ideas. It also has a relatively different perspective on what could be changed in 4x strategy games to make them more immersive, provide more depth, and create more memorable and dynamic experiences.

In its current state however, while the game does provide a fun new experience to veterans of the genre, it is clearly far from being complete, and it is quite obvious that the developers intend to flesh out existing systems a great deal as well as continue to add new components in order to fully achieve their vision. Whether or not this game will completely fulfill the promises it has made I cannot be sure, but at the very least I applaud the dev team for successfully bringing a legitimately promising new perspective to the table and showing people what 4x games could look like in the near future.

Lastly, regardless of any other features or ideas this game has, the real killer is balancing, as is usual for this genre all across the board. If they can iron that out or produce make as intuitive and fresh new ideas around 4x balancing as they already have with many other aspects of their game, they'll be golden. For now I remain optimistic, as I've seen this game gradually improve and smooth out and add new features rather consistently.

I recommend buying this game even in it's current state, as it's quite a breath of fresh air, very enjoyable, and even competitive to games like Civ which is especially surprising coming from a fresh IP and a new player in the field. It shows great promise to continue improving now, and supporting this game now allows for even greater promise for hopefully future iterations to come.
