Early Access Review
I came for the loot.

Or was it the home decorating?

No wait, I came for the combat.. yes, the combat.

Oh who am I kidding, I just came.

Incest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Simulator
In the year 935, my sister and lover was murdered by my friend and brother-in-law. He burnt her at the stake with my babe in her belly. He was a powerful man, my sister married well, his family spread far across Europe with many of his kin in the most influential houses of the developed world.

I spent the next 350 years erasing everyone who shared his blood, starting with my niece and nephews. By the time I was done, his family was erased from history, lost to obscurity and time. All my focus and hatred had left my own family nothing more than a poor Duke, so heavily consumed by a hate he didn't understand that by the time it was all over he took his own life before he fathered an heir. Thus, I lost my own family to obscurity and time.

After gaining nothing and losing everything I pondered for a moment whether or not it was all worth it...

The next day I started a new campaign this time I would play properly, I would get it right...

The year is now 937 and my wife (and sister) has given birth to an heir of pure blood, noble and strong. The world will tremble as 350 years of tyrannical darkness descends unto them.

Kinda impressed. The acting is definitely what made it. I thought everyone did a fantastic job and made the story more immersive. However, be warned, this is more of a movie than an interactive game. Somewhat of a spoiler, none of the choices you make through out the game matters except for the last 3 minutes of the game. There are 6 endings to the game, and I ended up getting the best ending, and I don't think I'll be revisiting the game knowing my actions in the game have no effect up until the ending bit.

It's been a long time coming and honestly it was worth the wait. I'm a big fan of the first EG although I've not played it for a long time.

EG2 is everything I hoped it'd be.

The negative reviews make little sense to me as they all complain about things that are just steeped in nostalgia, covered by rose tinted glasses of things that we thought were good but were really tedious or just annoying.

Base building is so much easier, you lack the ability to pause rooms for construction, however, it's so much easier to move items around and design a room. More so you can delete a room entirely and replace it with rock again if you so wish.

The world stage map took some getting used to but I personally love it. No longer do you send minions out only to get distracted and come back and find agents have killed them. Minions are a resource, you choose a mission and send them off. They don't come back, and on the left shows you a little tracker of what has happened to them. They went to ground, were KIA or deserted e.t.c.

You now have to set up a network in the actual regions before you can do anything and while heat slowly builds over time, money and heat reducing missions are always available and are time based rather than just stationing your minions on the map and hoping agents dont spawn and kill them.

Game looks and runs great, and I lost myself in playing it. I went to go to bed and suddenly it was 5am.

I don't understand the camera complaints, I've not experienced any issues with camera movement. Q and E work for rotating, you don't have to use middle mouse. People also complain about the building guns, I have no idea why. They make sense and quite frankly I don't miss the repeated trips of tnt and money cases getting interrupted by agents. Thankfully the freezer is gone too, now you just straight up incinerate the bodies, I never understood why you'd keep them in a freezer anyway since they do nothing positive for your lair.

The missions themselves are more involved and have steps to them, rather than just initiating a one hit mission and that's it. Basically every mission I've done so far has multiple steps and this makes it feel more engaging as an actual plot to get to your destination. Your EG actually takes part in some of these too and has actions they must perform to continue.

Does it have it's issues? Of course. No game is perfect.
Minions seem to struggle with mass body bags which can cause desertion spirals and make clearing the bodies take even longer.

Minions generally feel more fragile than in the first game which adds to the disposable minion feel but doesn't seem to give the muscle minions much more of an impact other than lasting a few seconds more and hitting a bit harder.

I have not encountered any game breaking bugs or any bugs at all for that matter, most of the 'I'm stuck' moments come from me not reading properly.

I say this is a worthy successor to the first EG and I plan to play much more of it in future.

Happy world domination!!!

This is the first Paradox DLC where the launch price is definetly worth the content you get. Lot's of flavor, music, immersion, events etc. Would 100% recommend if you plan on playing in the northern parts of the map.
