Probably my favorite Castlevania game. It's most similar to Symphony of the Night, but fully in 3D, which may or may not float your boat. It has Aria of Sorrow's soul mechanic as well. Music is great, there's a lot of customization, and I really love this game.
I have a few issues with the game (Alcahest sucks, crafting is pretty useless, soul drops are a bit too low for my taste, and movement speed could be a bit faster). All of which are fixed with some mods that change some values, but I do not think it's necessary to use them to enjoy the game, since in normal gameplay the movement and soul drops are fine enough, and dismantling and crafting are completely optional mechanics. The game just gives you no reason to interact with that side of the game.
Other than that, the bosses, setting, enemies, music, and map layout are really great, and there's loads of content and side modes, even local multiplayer modes.

If you expected this game to be like the flash game but with more content, you wouldn't necessary be wrong. It has more content and even mod support. But there's one big aspect of this game that either makes or breaks the game for you: the controls. The flash game's control scheme is pretty simple and intuitive; one button for each of the four possible actions: melee, gun, grenade, and power, and of course the four movement keys standard on any game. That's it. Now, in Superfighters Deluxe there are *8 action buttons*, including a *reload* button, a *pick up* button, actions that were all done with either of the four buttons in the flash game (reloading was done by simply pressing the gun button without ammo in stock, while picking up was simply ducking and meleeing). It's so much more complicated this way, and less intuitive.

Get a mod that changes the amount of currency you get and you are good to go. Otherwise you'll spend a lot of time grinding.

If you like Mega Man X, this is close enough, and has lots of fanservice in the form of a cool blue robot in different armours. And Marino is there too I guess.

Early Access Review
I love this thing. The editor is really easy to use, even if it may seem daunting at first (it's essentially just an animator with hitboxes and hurtboxes and other fun stuff.) You can try a lot of different things for your characters: if yo wanna make them Guilty Gear characters with a load of cancels and combo potential, with a Dragon Install, you can do that. If you'd rather just make a Smash character, you can also do that. Maybe you want to make a guy that teleports, has a parry, homing projectile, and that heals by drinking a can of Mountain Dew, and you can do all that.

The gameplay itself is very fun, playing like a more accessible Melee, in a way. Wavedashes can be done by simply inputting Shield and Jump at the same time and drifting your stick into the direction you want to Wavedash, and you no longer need to do stuff frame perfectly. The hitstun is pretty substantial compared to Ultimate, if you are used to that, which may turn off some people more used to not being combo food, but the DI is pretty powerful in this game so it kinda balances itself out. The DI is pretty weird tho; it only works if you input the direction before you get launched, instead of being able to influence it as you get launched, but it's alright, not a big issue.

You may read most of this and look at my play time, and wonder why I am not recommending this game. Well, the editor doesn't actually work on certain graphics cards; it's something that's getting worked on, but up until it actually gets fixed, I cannot recommend this knowing that its biggest and best aspect is basically impossible to use in some systems. It does work well in most computers, but take this as a warning if you do buy this game/program.

2/27/2024 edit: they fixed the graphic cards stuff for the most part. i recommend it.
