Early Access Review
The Forest is a rare standout in the bogged down genre of Early Access Survival games. Despite its rough edges The Forest is a compelling game with enemies that keep you always scared and on your toes. There are no overpowered strats, and even basic survival will be a true trial and error test. My friends and I originally tried to build a walled in compound with around a small pond as a food and water resource, eventually we were swarmed by too many cannibals to handle who tore down our walls. When we tried to live out of a houseboat and rafts we realized that it was hard to actually accomplish anything on land, and when we tried to build a treehouse village the trees were knocked down. Nowhere is safe. Some of the most fun I've had in co-op and the games ending will send you for a ringer. The endgame is legit and the game is only in alpha. Great for multiplayer, still recommended for single player.

I first discovered VA-11 Hall-A on Itch.io nearly a year ago and instantly fell in love with the free prologue. I dropped my 5 dollars to back this game and I am so happy to see it finally get its release and even come to steam. The positive reviews are pouring in and it is clear why. Unlike most story and character driven games Valhalla doesn't give you 2-4 black and white options with clear and telegraphed consequences. The story flows fluidly and is based around which drinks you choose to prepare, rather than what you choose to say (you do not control the main character, Jill's, dialogue). The characters are diverse in both personality and design and the game strikes a fantastic balance between humor and serious drama. And the new mechanics of managing Jill's personal finances and happiness are engaging and bring another level of immersion. (Also the lock screen on Jill's phone may be the cutest thing to ever grace my computer screen). Overall this is a true indie gem and I'm delighted to see the positive response it's getting on Steam.

Even if you aren't a South Park fan, the game has a surprisingly deep combat system, open world atmosphere, and the cool LARPing references (even though I don't personally LARP) keep me entertained. From mooing aliens probing you with dildoes, to meth laced coffee, the game constantly creates new scenes and mechanics to keep you engaged and having fun.
