I would recommend this game to any of my friends who enjoy Fallout: New Vegas and Mass Effect's atmosphere. This seems to be Obsidian's step-child of F:NV and you can definitely feel it. I found many times where I was stuck between what path I wanted to make and what choices felt best for how I wanted to affect Halcyon. I even found myself torn between my followers who, until the end of the game, I thought I had no feelings towards until I had to make some rash decisions on their fate.

The weapons in this game are just kind of there with not many varieties or options. The science weapons are fun but not very viable unless you place them on your followers or just wanna have some fun. Special variations of weapons don't even feel different besides a unique name.

Pacing-wise, I really enjoyed it until some sluggish moments- notably the 1st Groundbreaker visit, late Monarch and some stages on Gorgon.

I'd rate this an 8/10 purely because I love these types of FPS-ARPGs with real consequences and story building. I am sad that my journey in Halcyon is over but so happy I had the opportunity to visit. Here's to hoping for a TOW2!

Early Access Review
I logged in thinking this was a low-res Polygon, empty early access game...still haven't left. Way more depth than you could even consider in an early access game and way more to come!

Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ is such a fresh breath of air when it comes to recent Singleplayer games. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hardly have anything bad to say about the game.

Graphics:
+ a great looking game
+ graphics really help immerse you into Middle-earth
+ characters express facial emotion
- sometimes textures bug and seem really low quality (specifically on orcs armor)

Atmosphere:
+ superb lighting
+ a fair variety in weather effects
+ has the Mordor "smoggy" feel
- wish it were night time a little more, although lighting doesn't affect your stealth

Sound:
+ great soundtrack, drums of war and all
+ ambient sound helps immerse you into Middle-earth
+ THE GORE NOISES keep you wanting to slice up all them orcs
- definitely noticed repetitive sounds and noises

Balance:
+ the game has a talent tree system
+ challenge changes according to how powerful you are
+ definitely struggled killing some orc captains
+ if you die, the enemies get HARDER and its more challenging to kill them agian than the time you died
- at end game, you can pretty much destroy all orcs, which is fun, but you definitely earn it

Level Design:
+ its freaking Mordor
+ two separate areas, gives a fair amount of variety
- fast travel makes world seem smaller than it truly is

AI:
+ the orc dialogue is hilarious
+ all orcs have different characteristics and traits and all seem to have different personalities
+ killed an orc whilst he was in the act of peeing
- SOME orcs are really dumb, like REALLY. (but that makes it hilarious)

Weapons & Extras:
+ standard sword, dagger, bow
+ you get to use wraith abilities that make for some AWESOME and gratifying combat
+ wraith abilities also give you many different combat and stealth options

Story:
+ tells a great story of Mordor pre-Fellowship of the Ring
+ a very unique and interesting storyline
+ has a few twists
- total of 20 story missions, wish there were more so I could delve deeper into the story

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, and so far I have 32 hours on a Singleplayer game. Great replay value as there are collectibles and side missions to master and upgrade your weapons.

8/10 would definitely play again.
