This is a very cute game about making noises that you hear on various things you find lying around.

I was the music kid in my family, picking up a bunch of things to hit or blow like a flute, or just whatever really. I like noise, and I like music. And I think this beautiful little jam game is exactly what I needed when I played it.

Personally, I've been struggling like so many other people here. I've especially struggled creatively over the last month. And thinking about this game right now has me remember why I like making things and making noise: Because I like it and I like discovering it.

To the dev team behind this, thank you for making it. It is short, and sweet, and cute, and fun. And I got to hear waves in the background! Warms my heart

This game isn't perfect

Graphically, It's a mess
It stutters a lot
The gameplay innovations are neat but limited

But I really just don't care
I played this game for the first time on my stream and I cried multiple times at the story. It's a tragedy, as most Star Wars stories go, but it's real and painful and frankly moving.

What happens when fighting against fascism in a galaxy far far away gets to be too much?

Play the game and find out

So I saw that the game is coming out next year, looked at the demo from 2021 having never played it, and said "Hey I have a spot on my livestream for this I wonder if it has The Juice"

Spoilers, this demo Has The Juice.
Let me explain.
There will be spoilers for [WHITE LABEL].

This is a rhythm game about Beat, a punky woman who is full of Big Feelings and Big Thoughts. She seems between many things in life, having spent a real short time in higher education and is now haphazardly barreling her way through trying to be in a band. Every single story snippet you get about her is told through her thoughts in backstory Before and After each main song you play. Honestly, I really enjoy this. You get to learn about this struggling musician trying what she can and when you complete each song, you get a neat piece of follow up to that. I was tearing up a couple of times, from Practicing something you love and hating not getting better fast enough, to trying and failing to organize yourself because conventional methods like journals just don't stick.

So what about the music? What about the Gameplay?

The game looks real simple (and it isn't!). You have two buttons, one for ground and one for air attacks. You attack enemies, dodge obstacles, and try to keep your score as high as possible without missing enough notes to cause you to lose. And all the songs you do this to? Awesome. They each relate to the past-tense storey you get from Beat and it's loud, it's fun, it's emotional, and it's poignant all in one. I'm a Rock guy at heart, and this punk rock story is what I need right now. There are a few bonus songs in here too, but I won't spoil them. They made me really happy to see

The writing is also on point. Most of the demo is told from 3rd person, allowing character speech to overlap and mess with each other and really be chaotic.

I'm excited for the full release in 2025. This game has the X-factor, the Juice. You should definitely check it out if you like stylish, loud, emotional rythym games. And you should check this demo out. You'll clear everything in about an hour once you find the difficulty that's right for you, and that's more than enough time to really get into it

The big problem with this game doesn't come from the difficult start the developers had, likely from Warner Brothers pressuring the studio to release their game. It wasn't from the constant unfair comparison with Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, which also had difficult buggy launches that each grew into their own game, which Back 4 Blood does equal measure comparing itself to and distancing itself from.

No.

The entire reason I cannot recommend this game is because the active development was shut down only after a year of active release. Finally after a singular year of a scattered identity, constant development, and actually trying out some really cool gameplay stuff, B4B found it's own identity and succeeded in having an absolute banger of a final campaign. And then, Warner Brothers pulled the plug. Apart from vague system updates, Turtle Rock has fallen silent yet again. This game has been "Complete" for going on 2 years, and with the looming sword of Publishers being able to close down their periphery studios and shuffle their projects around whenever, only so that they maximize profit, does it truly settle in how much utter potential this game could have had.

An amazing time right at the end, but a reminder that the true ghouls and zombies are Warner Bros. Buy at a heavy discount if you can, if you choose to buy it at all

Honestly, this is a wonderful and intense and really interesting puzzle game where you slowly put together the life of a trans person running away from a bigoted household and city. Is it intense? Yes. It absolutely is. And that may push some people away because of how connected it is to real life bigotries and pain.

But it's also hopeful. The further you get in the mystery the more you learn about Sam's situation, identity, pressures, happiness, jubilation, everything. And it ends with deft and uncertain but hopeful catharsis.

And it's Short! Knock it out in a free afternoon or on a trip.

My only issue is that the puzzles aren't the clearest on how to approach them. I had to use a guide in a couple of spots because I hit a wall. BUT, once I understood exactly what the game was looking for, I managed to figure out a lot more on my own. It's that sort of game, and no shade to anyone else who uses a guide on it either.

So yeah, give it a shot!

Something needs to be said about a game that reminds me why I love the hyper-fighter genre. Over the top attacks, a fully modifyable assist system, infinite breakers, and a gorgeous presentation are just a few of the reasons.

+A beautiful hand-drawn art style
+A bevy of characters each who plays completely different
+An assist system that allows for infinite possibilities for team and combo compositions
+Music that complements the overall theme of Art Deco and the Silver Age of the Silver Screen
-Rather overbearing fanservice. Has been toned down from its previous iterations but can still be much for new players
-The base game in no way prepares new players for PvP.
-You need to buy the base game AND the 2nd Encore upgrade for the current full version of the game. You can still acquire all of the characters in the base game, but they won't function the way that they do in the full game.
-The scene is quiet. Certainly not dead, but very quiet at the moment. Seems to be coming back with all of the Undizzy Patches.

I love this game, both as a fighting game player and a fan of the classic themes. Most of the minor points are nitpicks rather than glaring issues, but they cannot be ignored in such a great game
