Redguard is a unique game in the Elder Scrolls series, the first to reach Modern 3D graphics (in which i mean the game uses real-time 3D environments) and is the first to deviate from the normal game play style fans were accustom to in Arena, Daggerfall and Battlespire. It's game play style mimics that of the Original Tomb Raider games which at launch back in 1998 was met with a mix of reviews for this deviation in game play with most being negative towards it. It's an unfortunate by-product of rushed Development that Lead Redguard to be filled with bugs, mostly ones that cause the game to crash, which is a damn shame as if you enjoy the old Tomb Raider style game play than it's one hell of a game, the story isn't perfect but it's certainly enjoyable and much better than recent Bethesda games (looking at you Fallout 4) It focuses on the time period in which Timber Septim's Third Empire occupied the lands of Hammerfell in conjunction with the Kings death leading to a Civil War. All that said, if you can put up with the crashing you will certainly endure, it's a worthwhile play and has a decent amount of TES Lore to enjoy as you explore.

understood. thanks for clearing that up. I was just scratching my head seeing all the top reviews are from people with less than 2 hours on record and was thinking like, is that really enough time to write an honest review?

That and so when i finally have some free time to do so, i can play through it again with ease of access, it's the modern world now, not many people have Disc Drives to boot up old games (i do have one but not in my PC)

I've played roughly 400-600 hours of redguard lol, it only just came to steam, it's not a new game.

Alright, that sounds fair enough. I thought Fallout 4 had a lot of great ideas in it's main story. Hunting down the institute by any means. Seeing that Shaun is a lot older than anticipated. The ramifications of deciding how to handle your own son's totalitarian approach to post war Boston.

Certain bits of Lore could for example give you a new opinion on this or that character, it could tell you how or why they are good/bad, why they did action X over Y, which will in the end change your opinion. So if you 'hated' lets say Fallout 4's story, having the knowledge of why certain things in the plot are the way the are from Lore could change your opinion from 'i hate this games story' to 'i thought it was alright but not great'.

A story can be good or bad regardless of how much you know about the world or people" I can't agree more, if the story is written good than it's going to be good, if it's written bad than it's going to be bad. But the addition of Lore absolutely can change your opinion of a story, if you knew nothing about the Elder Scrolls games what so ever and did a blind play of Oblivion, Morrowind, Skyrim etc, only having done the main story and no side quests, having not read any lore books or anything, just the tutorial through to last main quest, your opinion no matter if the story was good or bad is going to be different than if you had known that Lore to begin with. (Have to break this into two parts as it's more than 1000 Characters)

Lore provides background to a story. A story can be good or bad regardless of how much you know about the world or people. The history behind it is something extra. LOTR is an enjoyable watch or read based on what it gives you. Understanding and enjoyment are separate.

Atmosphere is certainly another aspect of TES games to enjoy and get pulled into, as for lore, i count that as part of the story. To fully understand the world your playing in, you have to understand a large portion of lore, much like LOTR. For example, knowing how the college of Winterhold in Skyrim looks like it's destroyed add's to the story, or knowing how the Falmer were once Snow Elves long cut off from the other above ground making them a deformed less intelligent race over time, i'd say things like that add to the general story, maybe not the main plot but it help you to understand the world better and some thing even help you to understand the main plot better.
