The game is very fun for the first few hours and that's because everyone at low levels have cards that only affect the game slightly, while at higher levels the maxed out cards completely take control of the game, and in a negative way. Once everyone is above around level 30, the cards do so much damage / are so effective that the game boils down to who got a luckier draw from their deck rather than who outplayed who. Can't recommend it because the game got so stale so quickly, however was very fun initially.

Can't recommend this game...
If it were free to play, I'd understand some if its quirks, but in it's current state, I strongly recommend you from NOT buying this game. The servers are a mess, some games are fine but most I've had have people teleporting around you able to 1 shot you because they were close to you on their screen but not the other way around. (This isn't my internet connection, I play many other games with fine connection). Another thing I constantly experienced was people sneaking up behind me and 1 meleeing me because there is no footstep audio. I find the guns lackluster in the fact that you have barely any ammo, and it takes forever to get new ammo. It also feels impossible to pick up the more interesting guns I want to use more often.
Joining CTP (Capture the Pig) games were terrible because the game won't start until there is a certain number of players, however the game doesn't tell you this. So, for about 10 minutes I was walking around shooting people that took no damage waiting for players that never join. I kept leaving and requeuing to get right back into that game until it started after 15 minutes.
There is no tutorial for the game so you have to learn everything on your own. This wasn't a huge problem for me, because I have lots of gaming experience, however for other people I could see how it would be annoying. I had to figure out how each gun works and how to find them (I'm still not clear on that). I want to use the cooler weapons but I have no idea how to get them or where they spawn. There is also shield in the game you can pick up around the map but there are so few spawns for it I don't even know where to look. It seems like a wasted feature they added to the game.
To sum everything up, I don't recommend this game. If it were F2P, I'd change my mind and recommend it, but there are way better fps games you can find that are free. Hopefully they fix some of these issues in the future and it will become more of a paid game.
Thanks for coming to my tedtalk

Don't waste your money on this game. There is no skill involved, just luck. The bullets aren't hitscan but they move fast enough they feel hitscan so having good aim doesn't help. Health packs around the map make the game so uncompetitive by encourage losing the fight but damaging the enemy then coming back to life at full hp. You win the fight, you're weak but on the point, you hear the announcer talk about the resync, they're behind you with full health and a reloaded gun killing you. If it was free I'd encourage you to check it out however it is completely a waste of money.

Fun game with new mechanics and a new combat system I'm having fun learning. Should at least give it an hour as it is a free game and if you don't like it that's fine. I do think they need to add the ability to look around while crafting because it's really annoying to get snuck up on while crafting.

Old review from too long ago I'll keep below, but new review here:

3 words: Best Game Ever.

This has honestly been the only game that I've truly enjoyed and have never stopped enjoying. Splitgate ruined other games for me because of how perfect it is in my eyes. Whenever I'd take a short break or play other games with friends, I wouldn't be able to keep my mind off of Splitgate. It has a small but extremely nice and tightly knit community that will support you and one of the best dev teams I've ever seen. They actively play the game, CardinalSoldier, the CEO of 1047 games, competes in top level pro play, something I've never seen with other games. They also actively listen to the entire playerbase and allow you to voice your concerns. They are also extremely hard working and put in an immense amount of effort to make the game as enjoyable as possible for everyone. While the playerbase is currently small, I have no doubt that it will grow in the near future, especially with things like a console port coming soon, along with cross-platform. The game is also free to play which means there is no consequences to at least trying it out, so I recommend that anyone who enjoys a shooter game try it out.

If you love competitive play, this game is built for you. What I love about this game, and one of the reasons I hate battle royals, is the impact of RNG (randomness). There is (almost) zero rng in this game. Most of the weapons are hitscan and there is no random drops for weapons on this map, meaning the competitiveness of this game focuses 100% on skill. Talking about skill, this game has one of the highest skill ceilings I've seen. Just like building in Fortnite, the portal aspect of this game is a easy to learn mechanic but extremely difficult to master.

Something I've seen talked a lot about in reviews (mostly negative ones) are the maps. When first introduced to new players, the maps may seem weak and poorly made, however once you learn the portal mechanic more and understand the playstyle of the game, the maps become the most interesting and forever evolving parts of the game. To this day I'm still learning new portal peaks throughout the maps!

The guns may feel unbalanced, but imo they are really well balanced and perfectly suited for this game. I honestly have a bit of trouble trying to think of what needs to be changed with the weapons right now to make the game better. Obviously, some weapons are extremely more powerful than others, but that's the entire point. Yeah, there's a shotgun that can one tap people and has 6 rounds, but it also only comes up every 2 minutes, and is something you have to work for to get (winning gunfights). The Carbine is also my favorite gun in any game. Not because it is overpowered, but because of how perfectly balanced it is. The gun is 100% skill based. There is no other mechanic that makes the Carbine work better or worse, if you're an absolute amazing shot, you're going to destroy people with it. If not, it's going to be more difficult, yet still possible, to use.

All in all, the game is free and I highly recommend you checking out this game. From the bottom of my heart, I believe this is one of the best games ever created and will get the recognition it deserves in the future. If you do check it out, make sure to put some time into to really learn the mechanics of it and you'll fall in love with it just as I have.

Old review from a very long time ago:

I think that the reviews on this steam page are not doing the game justice. EDIT: (It seems like the reviews are now mostly positive which accurately reflects this game!) This is a very fun, high paced game that can be very annoying at times but I feel like the people who are not recommending it are just saying no because they didn't know how to play the game. If you take the time to learn how to use the portal's effectively the game can feel very rewarding. I really recommend this for people who enjoy FPS or people who enjoyed halo.

The maps are a little troublesome but I feel like when you understand where all the portals can go you can really get some amazing and rewarding flanks.

The weapons are a little wonky because the pistol is very powerful relative to the Assault Rifle. If you hit all body shots with AR it takes around 15 bullets to kill but with a pistol its around 6. The shotgun and Rocket launcher can also be annoying at times.

I find this game very fun to play and I enjoy the challenge of becoming a better player. If you have good aim or would like to work on this, this game really requires you to have good aim. You should get it (it's free) and play at least 5 hours to get a feel for the game before you fully judge it. It may be hard at the start but eventually it becomes really fun.

Edit:
I still love this game and hope it grows. For now it seems to have slowly dipped down. I really hate to see this because it's honestly one of my favorite games. I still have hope in my heart that this game is successful.

Before I got Rainbow Six Siege I played and loved CS:GO and in general most FPS games. My friend told me about this game so I looked at it and the first thing I noticed was the graphics which I thought was really good. I did purchase the starter edition and let me tell you something... DON"T GET IT. If you're gonna purchase this game (Which I highly reccomend) just go for the regular edition. Buying the starter edition makes it take forever to unlock new operators. Rainbow Six: Siege offered amazing battles between players and a very tactical shooter that I've never seen before, I got sucked into it right away and never stopped. I think it is amazing how Ubisoft releases new content every 3 months for free, it really keeps the game growing as a community and never makes it boring. The one thing I do have to say about it is that it has an extremely steep learning curve that will take months to understand, Learning the maps and learning how each operator works is an extremely difficult task. However once you really start understanding game mechanics and how operators play the game because 3 times as fun. If you're worried or unsure about purchasing this game, you should wait for a free weekend. Ubisoft has a few free weekends of siege every year so people can try out the game and buy it at a discounted price, 100% recommend you try one out. I've had this game for about 10 months and have spent over 1000 hours on it, truely addicting. I have climed up ranks getting better and better each season while meeting new people along the way. I have made SOOOOOOO many new friends that I still play with to this day on siege. I even found out one of those friends lives 20 minutes away from me and I just found him in a quick game of Casual. Overall I think this is one of the greatest games I've ever gotten and might ever get. 100% buy this game.

Oh and... don't reinforce kids room ;)
