Overview
I want to like this game but it really is in rough shape, and I think it has to do with an overall lack of polish for the game's core game mechanics.

The biggest hurdle to overcome is this game's combat. It's probably going to feel fine in campaign but in multiplayer, it's wack.
If I had to guess, it's because the TTK in this game is comparable to Halo 3's but the overall movement and flow of matches is on par with Reach or even 4. So every fight you engage in feels like things are coming to a grinding halt because it takes several seconds to secure a kill, and that's assuming no one else is around you.

Team work is a must in this game. You really cannot hold your own because the team that sticks together, wins together. The maps are made in such a way where the sight lines make it very difficult to run and gun if you're the type to flank opponents for your team. Speaking of helping your team...

Sound design is game breaking for me. Enemy footsteps used to make a big difference in 3 and Reach, and they're practically inaudible in this game. It's not uncommon to have your teammate either be assassinated or shot down right beside you and you won't hear any part of that exchange. I've seen squads who stick together get team wiped because no one noticed a dude assassinating the guy in the rear.

Another hurdle to teamwork is challenges. The challenges compel players to ignore the objectives in CTF or Oddball because you can't choose your modes and the challenges are too individualistic to not interfere with the overall game. They're also the only way to progress through the battlepass, so this is a recipe for consistent losses if you like to solo queue.

My last gripe has less to do with teamwork but more to do with overall balancing. The equipment pick ups are a great idea and I don't think I'd change anything except the shield, which desperately needs a buff. But it's the weapons that need some reworking. In a nutshell, there's 3 core guns worth using: AR, Sidekick, and BR. Every other gun is either a power weapon or so weak that there's no reason to pick it up at all. This makes matches boring because knowing weapon pick ups doesn't lead to better map control, since you're already at your strongest with your starting kit.

At least on a surface level, the game is beautiful and the music is very hype. Come back in 6 months to maybe see some better gameplay though.

Game doesn't connect you to online games via Steam. You have to boot it up from Uplay (or at least I did), which is whatever.
Game is woefully antisocial. No way to interact with or talk to people in any meaningful way, which severely undercuts team play.

Go outside and make some friends to play UNO with IRL. This ain't it chief.

I like simulator games and I don't outright dislike this either. There are some quality of life things I wish this game had that stop me from telling people to absolutely give it a shot.

- The tutorial really isn't that good. It highlights certain fixtures that bring up different menus but as far as I can tell, you don't spend anytime learning how to use that interface so it's kind of dumb.
- The tutorial also doesn't offer any advice in terms of examining the car (I had to learn on youtube that you can determine the condition of parts by without test driving it- and I'm pretty sure the game doesn't tell you that test driving yields a litany of specs),
-For whatever reason there doesn't seem to be a way to check key bindings and change audio settings while mid-game. I could be wrong here but there's definitely no option to do so when pausing the game via ESC.

Might be a game more fun to watch than to buy- definitely not a great learning tool if you know nothing about automotive repair.
