I have played many many hours of CS/Valorant, and this game definitely scratches an itch that I didn't know I still had.

There is much to be said about the shard card system, mostly positive things, but I think lots of people are dismissing many core features that this game excels at.

Lancer's feel fun with really good skill expression and high skill ceilings, but none feel particularly overbearing to play with or against. There is lots of variety in terms of gameplay between them and each lancer has a niche in both offense and defense.

The economy in this game is probably the best out of any of the 5v5 tactical shooters I've played, it eliminates pistol rounds entirely and removes utility purchasing. From round 1 everyone is fully kitted and ready to go, you get 2 chances with each weapon type and if you die each time you are unable to purchase that weapon type again for the half (unless you get a card that gives you an additional purchase). This solves a lot of my perceived problems with CS/Val economy, with foregoing the gameplay loop of M4's or AK's being the defacto weapons you use nearly every round you can afford them, while also restricting the types of players that would buy deagle + armor round after round after round. If someone on your team is trying to cheese but are getting destroyed all the time, the game forces their hand into trying a different play style. The weapons all genuinely feel good to use, and the balancing is really good between them.

The maps are really well designed, and I don't think there is one map that I can say I loathe playing on. The all feel pretty well balanced between offense and defense, and have good variety in their angles and choke points.

Monetization at a glance might seem off putting, but if you take a closer look it's more than fair compared to many other titles. The battle pass has great rewards and never time's out, so you can continue working through them whenever you have time. The membership at $10 gives both premium currency, access to all lancers and increased experience and general currency gain. The weapon and lancer skins are high quality and compared to Valorant or CS, are priced extremely well.

If you are looking for a change up in what tactical shooter you play, I'd highly recommend this game.
