I've spent my fair share of hours on Helldivers for PS4, and some 20+ hours on PC.

Theres my bland fan justification of why this game is good and you should believe me.

The actual reason, is the moment to moment gameplay is genuinely enjoyable for me, and I want to just have fun with friends/randoms. Exploring planets feels fresh and fun, loading the artillery cannons just to vaporize some crawlies fires up my neurons, blasting my friend to bits with a less than carefully thrown grenade fills me with the hahas, and watching a flag raise for 5 minutes fills me with Super Earth Pride.

There are some negativities, but in the 2 hours I've played so far, I know I will get my moneys worth of fun and more.

So let me break down the problems, and why I don't care about them because I'm not gonna be a Karen about things like this.

Matchmaking problems for a game? It's not like we've been through this before with every game tied to online. It's happened with open betas having better online service/connectivity than actual games full release *Cough*GBO2*Cough*. They will get fixed, don't review or hate it solely on the server not working at 3 a.m..

I'm aware it has a kernel anti-cheat. I do not care though as more people are picking this up to combat cheaters. I'm sorry that Easy Anti-Cheat isn't here to be bypassed for people to unlock everything day 1, but this is another thing gamers will have to start dealing with in the future more than likely.

The game has a micro-transaction store? We are in 2024, this is the least shocking thing for me in this game. They are all items you do not need to enjoy the game, and if you really want that funny looking gear, you get some currency from playing the game.

The illuminates are not here, there is only bugs and cyborgs. They state in the lore that they beat them, the bugs, and the cyborgs about a century ago, so why are only 2/3 back? Well my guess is because they have stated they are doing FREE post story content. My guess is they will EVENTUALLY have their own faction back in. That being said, I hated them in the first Helldivers so I will not miss them until I am geared from my bug and robot killing.

Crashes at launch without a first patch? The audacity! I l literally booted the game up expecting it. Nobody should expect otherwise. They will be fixed. I had 1 in 2 hours time, and it was me doing some weird stuff with alt tabbing so shame on me.

I feel alot of people had insanely high expectations of this game, but didn't temper themselves to the usual problems, and problems that ultimately will not likely affect more than 0.01% of the player base.

TLDR; Kill some bugs, shoot some cyborgs, and earn your guaranteed citizenship as a Helldiver. Its fun with friends, and will be more fun when they roll out working matchmaking for randoms to TK you from the skies.

Got Level 2 Penalties for my involuntary match DCing with good connection.

Bandai lifted them for all players.

Got banned AGAIN 2 days later after 2 involuntary DCs while having good connection.

Fix your servers, or fix your penalty system for quick/custom matches.
