I am coming to this with over 2,200 hours on BB2, and around 150 games on fumbbl. I may not play TT, but I am a massive fan of BB.

An absolutely horrendous experience currently, and sadly the roadmap to fix its many many issues is a joke. Hopefully the devs stick at it and it becomes mediocre. That is all BB needs to be successful in its own right. Would love to say I hope for more, but this is so disappointing I am not sure the devs are the right people to do anything more than that.When you turn this game off, your eyes relax and your head clears. Its absolutely draining to just browse the menus. That's without mentioning the many errors in the rules, grasping monetization and constant bugs. A total omnishambles.

I do love idea of BB, so I will check in on this over time to see if they can improve it. Maybe one day I will change this review. Lets hope so. I have thousands of hours in its predecessor.

Update 24th March: I am at about 60 hours I guess now, its still atrocious. If anything its gotten worse. Yes there have been a few bug fixes, but the lack of playerbase, information from the devs and progress on the big issues makes it apparent this game is on a knife edge.

Update 25th June: Despite the release of Season 1, its still garbage with no reason to play. The ladder is a mess, there is nothing to aim for really. Many of the same issues are unaddressed. Still cannot recommend buying it. Has it improved? Yes, a little. Is it worth purchasing? No. Is it worth even installing if you get it for free? Not unless you are a big fan of Bloodbowl and dont like Fumbbl. Come back in six months I guess.

Update 31st Oct: Season 2 is a month underway, and nothing is resolved. In some respects its actually gotten worse.

Update 16th Nov: A big patch yesterday and.... its even worse. Its just making everyone sad at this point. Randomly changing rules that arent in the original game. Breaking existing functionality, terribly design ui improvements that add more clutter. New and exciting bugs. Its honestly astonishing and baffling.

Not sure I will return to update this review. I really want a BB adaptation to succeed but these devs deserve to fail and lose the licence.

Update 11th Apr 2024: Reinstalled for new season. Its every bit as bad as I remember. Zero meaningful progress and incredibly there are new worse bugs than before and some previously fixed ones returning. Add to that an update on store policy that reveals they lied to the community about certain items. I think its time to bury this.

Update 16th Dec 2024: So recently the devs / publisher asked people to re-review the game and give it a more positive slanting. I loaded the game up based on that. Its still visually poor, far too cluttered and almost impossible to tell what is going on in big scrums with many skills on players. The audio is still functionally missing. There are two new absolutely showstopper bugs (one of which was fixed quite quickly) that absolutely should have been caught before the new update was pushed out. There is also a new visual bug that can cost you a match quite easily (players looking prone, but actually they are stood up in a different square...).

I don't understand how it can still be this bad, and how new bugs are still coming thick and fast. There are some QoL improvements, there are some interesting new online formats (with teething issues, but thats fine). But the awful and unresponsive controls are still there, along with all the other gaemplay failings.

Its gone from a buggy 2/10 game, to a buggy 3/10 game. Progress is glacial and many things feel to be going backwards (the main ladder rules being one). Yes when you compare the game to release it is better, but if this was the released game people would still be angry. Credit to the devs to sticking with it, I hope they can somehow resolve this and win everyone over. You can see from my hours played I want this to succeed, but I just cannot recommend it to anyone in goodwill.
