Almost 2 years ago the developer reached out to me and offered a free key to play on my channel since I used to make videos of a game with some similarities to this one.

Sadly only now did I actually play it and I was quite impressed with the level of care and detail of the game.

Not a perfect game of course, but plays well, certain RNG elements add variety and bosses are unique and interesting :)

Only thing that's kind of a small bother is that you have to quit to the main menu and select 1-4 player mode again if you ever want to switch characters (who all have a shared progress thankfully), besides that the game is fun to play :)

If steam allows it here's the livestream I did: https://www.youtube.com/live/lxAHqCtkPdY

Had never played Civilization before, and to be honest, I kind of hated it when I tried at first.

But one day I decided to understand the game, so I looked up a small beginner's guide, followed some tips and then wow, the game because so much fun!

My advice if you're new is: At least understand what the victory conditions are, that should probably get you on the right track :P

I know this game had some controversies and whatnot... but know what? It's a game I played since it came out, and it was always fun to play, especially with friends.

So many weapons and builds to try out, so many creative and insane heists... I never really liked FPS games toooo much but this one takes the cake, it's just too good, probably because it's Co-op and not a Deathmatch kind of game like all others by the time it came out.

Buy it, it's great fun even WITHOUT DLC, you can play all heists if someone hosts the ones you don't have, and if you do like the game then they are an added fun on top.

Honestly I know there are a ton, but this is a game worth full price, and yet it's super cheap in comparison so...

Sadly I cannot recommend this game :/

I can tell the devs have had a LOT of work in the creation of this game, however there are quite a few issues that just make this (at least for me) an experience that's more painful than enjoyable.

By far my biggest complaint about the game is that it's so chaotic on the eyes!

All pieces are really finely textured and with tiny little details while the backgrounds are also really busy messes that WILL confuse your eyes with or without shadows turned on...

So that aspect alone made me have a less than enjoyable experience with the game, but I still battled through it because I like this type of games and wanted to give it a shot...

However the main problem is this: Solutions are not consistent!

Not only do things happen slightly differently each time, I assume because they use real time physics and whatnot, but also, as seen on other reviews, on level 1-4 they just DON'T WORK.

I struggled a lot with it, tried a solution that would allow me to complete both objectives but the wheel always got stuck... I gave up, and just focused on the main objective with the parts that I had... I then checked the "correct" solution and it was the exact same I had before, but even with that the wheel didn't go down the slope! :/

So I cannot recommend this game until those 2 things are fixed:

- Simplify the models and make the background either simpler or dimmed so it doesn't interfere with the objects that do matter;
- Make sure the result is always the same regardless of lag, etc and what type of computer you have...

I know it's a tall order but the models and background shouldn't take TOO much work to fix, and the gameplay mechanics HAVE to work properly otherwise the game doesn't really work right?

Didn't know what I was getting myself into at first... but this game really is good! (at least it has been :P)

The story isn't bad either and the gameplay is quite fun, in a way it adds a nice touch to combat where you either decide to kill the monsters for exp and loot or hack them for datacores which you can sell for gold.

All I can say is, if you enjoy RPGs and/or geeky computer stuff like hacking and etc then you will most likely enjoy this game as well :)

Single player MMO, and because of that, I don't really expect to run out of content any time soon :P

Get it, you won't regret it ^^

So... it's a bit hard for me to actually choose between recommending this game or not... but I will do my best to talk about it and explain my reasons.

This game, if you couldn't tell already, is a point and click game, and if you like that kind of game you might enjoy this somewhat.

There are a few different ways of interacting with things, perhaps this isn't the best way to explain it but you'll get what I mean in a minute, some of these make sense, other don't make any.

When you can examine something a magnifying glass icon will appear, this usually zooms in on the object or makes your character "say" something (which appears written on top of the screen). Hand icon you usually take or grab items (when "grabbing" you don't take them but can use them to interact with other items). These are the interactions that make sense, and little minigames where you solve puzzles to open a secret lock or something, that makes sense too.

What doesn't make sense is that throughout the game you will encounter a type of minigame that's just stupid in context, it's one of those "screens full of garbage" and that you have to find a certain amount of items. This doesn't make sense for a lot of reasons: Firstly, the purpose of finding all of those items is so that you get ONE of those items to use, for example, if you need a handle, you can find the handle in the minigame but you still have to find a whale, a box of crayons, a fedora, 3 lollypops, etc. JUST to get to keep the handle.

Also worse than that, some items aren't even there, you have to "make" them. An example of this is in a part where you need a "Dotted tie"... however the only tie there is 1 solid color... what do you have to do? Grab a crayon and click the tie, you will then draw dots on the tie and THEN you can get it. I know it's supposed to entertain the player a bit but it's just stupid! Specially most of those item combinations! Oh yeah, and many of the items you need aren't even items, they can be drawings or something like that... so yeah...

However, if you don't want to do that minigame and look for everything you can do a domino game instead, there will be a big grid with some 2x2 trees scattered about, when you get a domino piece to touch one of them it's the same as finding an item in the other minigame. You get 3 dominoes and you can flip them however you like. There is also a handle on the left that changes the 3 dominoes you have in case you can't use them or want something different.
Any combination of finding objects or playing the dominoes is fine, nothing changes really.

You cannot combine items in your inventory also, so don't worry about that.

My biggest issue with this game however is that it is very very linear, and if that wasn't enough, you even have a map that always tells you where you should go next, sure, if you have a good memory you don't even need that map, but it still looks a bit too much hand-holding (although you only open the map if and when you want it).

Another thing that makes the game much worse is the voice acting, SERIOUSLY! Specially the protagonist, she looks like she has no emotion, a monster can appear right in front of her face and she's all like "Oh, what is this?" like she doesn't even care.

On the aesthetic side, the game is actually quite well drawn and animated, there's a thing here or there but in general the looks of everything really fit well with each other and are gorgeous... HOWEVER! This is not the case for when someone talks to you!

Even though the characters look very well made (could be better in some cases but still), when they start talking it's just horrible and makes you want to look the other way, the ONLY thing that moves is the mouth, they don't even blink unless it's part of a cinematic speech, just the mouth moves and on top of that the mouth only has like 4 different poses, each stays there for almost a second and looks REALLY unnatural, it would look a lot better if they didn't move the mouth at all.

But all in all, it's a decent game if you're not looking for a hardcore point and click and just want to finish one, it doesn't take too long to finish and it's almost impossible to get stuff (even if you never use the "skip" or "hint" buttons).

So play this game if:
- You just want to casually play a point and click game;
- Want to look at some pretty sceneries;
- Do random stuff that make no sense whatsoever in context.

Do NOT play this game if:
- You want a good story with awesome voice acting;
- You want a challenging point and click where you have to figure out what to do by yourself;
- Want a deep and engaging story;
- Want to see realistic facial expressions.

So that about wraps my review, from 0 to 10 I think I enjoyed this game about 5... wasn't that good but wasn't that bad either, just enough to keep me going, but just because I wanted to try it out... took me about 2:30 hours to beat this game.

Oh, and the ending was the most stupid thing ever xD

A blast from the past!

Startopia is I game I played many years ago when I was still very young. The game is really fun to play with and I feel like it has barely even aged!

Sure the graphics aren't realistic or anything, but they are pretty pleasing to look at.

The gameplay is amazing and it also has funny jokes and references throughout.

The campaign can get a bit tricky though, but once you understand it it is amazing :P

Either way, I totallly recommend this game! It's fun and you won't really get tired from it :)

This is a charming game, however there are a few issues that are a bit breaking and after seeing that it costs 6.99€ just makes me say DO NOT BUY IT. If you do find it in a bundle however (like I did) sure, get it.

Now it's time for an explanation. The game is cute and your character actually walks around "real" objects, as in, the scenes were filmed with a real camera and then blended into the game.

It's a point and click puzzle game and it isn't an easy one either. Which, again, in itself is fine.

The puzzles are usually either a bit easy to solve or at least to figure out what to do, but there's 1 of them that is really quite horribly difficult to even make sense out of it.

SPOILER about that "tip" for that puzzle, it's a page of a book with the "ONE" in "GRAMAPHONE" underlined, and a #9 on the corner of the page... what this supposedly means is, there's 9 numbers you need (for a locker with 3 digits, therefore 3 sets) and it starts with ONE, then you have to read the text and find either the actuall number like "fig. 2" being the "2" the second number you need, and then "three"... then there's a year, 1887, the "1" is the last number of the second set of numbers and "887" the last one.
The problem with this is, the game gives you NO CLUE what this book is related to or even what to look for, your character only says "A book grandpa's been reading, he wrote something on it" and that's it, you really need a guide or an epiphany to figure it out.

Lastly, and this is what made me say NO about buying this for 6,99€ is that the game... only lasted me a few minutes, seriously, there are like 5 different screens (not counting small camera transitions) and only a dozen of puzzles or so, it's a cute short "story" but it's not even an apetizer, sure, in the end it says "end of lume part 1", but it's a part where you pay 6,99€ to get.

TL;DR

- One of the puzzles is nearly impossible to solve on your own, and crucial to finish the game;
- Even if you get stuck a lot, you can beat the game in only a few minutes, not even 1 hour.

Would I recommend playing this game? Sure, it is a bit fun at most and challenging, you will probably need a guide for 1 or 2 puzzles though and it's an interesting new concept.

Would I recommend buying this game? No, unless you're either filthy rich, or get it with a bundle, seriously.

In terms of the overall game and enjoyability I give it a... maybe 8/10 (without my puzzle issue).
In terms of the price/quality ratio I give it a 1/10 just because it's visually pleasing and new.

Thanks for reading this (if anyone ever does).
