In terms of music and visual aspects "The Flame in the Flood" feels like an eye-catching title but when it comes to gameplay, this game doesn't offer much.
The gameplay consists of two parts: guiding a raft and exploring ports.
In the first, you are on a very simple raft (which you can upgrade throughout the game) and your aim is to guide it to the ports. Now, since you are on flooded land, you can only go downstream. You have to just aim for the ports and try to dock as many of them as possible, once you depart a port there is no going back. Since you can't come back, your exploration gets limited and it's not very joyful.
In the ports (which lead to a variety of lands) there are resources, camps, and sometimes dangers. Limitations of carrying items hit right at the start and since there is no way of coming back to previous ports, every item that gets left behind is gone forever.
The balance of resources and dangers is somewhat weak. You mostly get elementary stuff but all of a sudden you find yourself attacked by a wild boar. Since you don't have anything to fight with, you run and make it to the next port, where instead of a boar you face a wolf, and in the next instead of one wolf now you have to face off against a pack of wolves! And the next one is a boss fight with a big wild boar. And you still don't have any access to any real weapons which making them requires having a boar pelt to create an item which with that you can create another item to use yet another item for fighting!
The limitations and imbalances, besides the not-so-user-friendly menus, easily tire you. Also, in just a few hours, everything becomes repeated and bores you out.
There is an endless mode that you probably could play so you can learn things through trial and error and use the experience in the campaign but the funny thing is that when I tried to play that mode the game said it was going to save it over my campaign saves!
If I want to say it short, "The Flame in the Flood" art is somewhat worthwhile but the gameplay doesn't do any justice to the art and lets you down easily.

That's the thing though, all your gripes are just you being too fucking stupid to understand basic survival game concepts common in the genre lol, not taste.

Well, this settles it. This game is for 4-year-olds who still don't understand the concept of taste and just want to beat on their controller playing a random game.
My 4 year old nephew beat the game without assistance. If not an idiot, you are at least dumber than a 4 year old.

Hope you had a great holiday.
But I believe you are the idiot in this matter for two reasons:
1. not seeing all the other reasons this game is not worth it and just sticking to gameplay.
2. defending a product online
Been away from my PC over the holidays. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You're confused by tech trees in a survival game. The concept of make tools with sharp rock, then make metal knife with metal so you can make other stuff. You were given a quest and the resources to make basic items on the starting island and still failed lol. You are objectively, a fucking idiot.

Weak reply after a month. lmao/
So TLDR you're an idiot.

The simple fact that I can't play endless and campaign simultaneously and the game only has one save slot deserves a negative review, not to mention all the other problems, from horrendous menu design to limited raft gameplay.
And yes, I've played it for about three hours because it didn't attract me. The game kills the adventure angle by not allowing you to explore the world thoroughly.

Laying a trap for something is not fighting something head on.

You clearly don't know very well how to play a survival game, as you couldn't wrap your head around one of the simplest, most paired-down survival games out there. But then again, you only played for two hours.

I had the trap on me and never used it because, as you said in the first comment "You're not SUPPOSED to fight anything early game". I saved it and finally used it on the board boss and it turns out it requires more than one trap to kill it, and I didn't need more than one up to that point.
And even if we say I made a mistake on this one, you can't really turn a blind eye on all the other problems.
It's not my first time playing a survival game; I know how to play one. But this game is not up to standards and becomes quite annoying, repetitive, and boring in a very short time.
