The gameplay is very dull and lacks variety, every new campaign feels samey regardless of what playstyle you "created". Exactly what you don't want to feel when playing a fantasy sandbox. You cant even choose what type of units you want for your faction without choosing one of their predefined playstyle they have made. This game is suppose to thrive on creating your own civilization, so why don't this game let you do that? Surely its better giving a ton of options to pick and choose from instead of a few premade bundles of playstyles. And you want to customize your aesthetics, still a few options of armors, faces and colors etc... Forget making something unique in this game, even though its one of the games major selling points.

They of course do the classic paradox 4 dlc's a year schedule, while the game itself isn't a baked product yet. Some games makes this somewhat fair when the expansions actually bring some innovative mechanics and fun new content to play around with. For this game 1 year expansion pass you pay for an entire new game again for simply giving you a slight amount of what the game already gives you.

In short. They made a basic 4x turn-based strategy without any depth or innovative mechanics and Paradox enforce their classic cut-content dlc farm on the game.

Feels like a downgrade from DD1. Less meaningful mechanics and modifiers. Another game that you are guaranteed to fail until you grind enough power to unlock basic mechanics and items so that you can eventually snowball.

Solid competitive game, except for;

• Anti win streak matchmaking. Story of the game, run over enemies and win too easily or get run over without chance of winning. Occasionally a fair and close game, but grinding through 10-20 trashy matches before a good game happens isn't it.
  
• No role queues/hero priority. Teammates fighting for the "dps" role at the start of every match is just a fantastic idea for a good competitive experience, there definitely wasn't enough toxicity already in the game.
  
• Poor performance. Often stutters when there is a lot of action going on.

Good dlc, not "too hard"

Poorly optimised and repetitive gameplay. New additions didn't really improve the game from the first one. Bigger game but quality is better than adding a lot without soul.

Great dlc.

Not the most ambitious TW but newer TW definitely should use the army changes and diplo system from 3K
