Play this game on the 'True' difficulty.

The game makes one thing really clear; all your tacticool, RS6 Siege super edgy 'skills' mean nothing.

It is an unflinchingly vicious, no holds-barred stealth strategy shooter.

Violent only in the way that Hotline Miami is.

As stealth focused as the old Splinter Cell games.

If you think you can burst through doors with an AK and one tap your enemies you won't do well in this game...
Noise is a real REAL thing, suppressors don't make guns silent in real life, and they don't do that here either.

If you leave a door open, enemies will remember it being shut and investigate, if you leave a blood trail, enemies will follow it with guns ready.

Every single enemy is a tough fight unless you're careful, prepared or just straight lucky.

The loadout system is way more in-depth than I expected offering arsenals, armours and gadgets to match all play styles, but there's no 4 weapon carrying, heavy armour wearing, grenade packing stealth game-play. Guns and gear are loud and heavy and alter your interaction with the game world drastically. I prefer the stealth approach and not wanting to make any excess noise I run a knife and a suppressed pistol without armour, this means that my character is a ghost, but one single .45 wound and I'm dead.

Also the story is awesome, there's nothing quite like slaughtering a warehouse full of degenerates in the name of bloody vengeance.

The game will beat you down and make you a better gamer just get it.

It also has a lovely rage purging mechanic, hold down F to activate your mic and scream obscenities to lure your foes to you, or just to add to the rage of battle.

A solid 9/10 so far, will update going forward, well played Roman Glebenkov!

I got lost hiking up a mountain, and I saw a shepherd. I asked him "How far up are we?" and he answered "Limbus Company." That's how I realised, I already knew the answer. We were at the peak.

I found an AK-47 before i found food, 10/10 i felt like a child in congo.

I'm going to try to describe the game and also translate the hate you'll read about the game, to give you an idea of what to expect from my point of view.

The game is massive. There is a tremendous amount of content. You'll hear old-time players constantly refer to "dead content". In some cases, it's true. In many cases, it's only true for those who have played literally all the content already and have no concept of reality for a new player.

You'll probably hear complaints about how the game is barely updated, and how updates "suck" compared to the past.
First, the game is updated less often than it used to be updated. It still gets new content every month at a minimum. Many players will say "Well THIS new content isn't REAL content" because it doesn't match the content those players wish existed.

If you like lore, the game's pretty packed with it. There are a decent number of quests. While most MMOs have thousands of quests that consist of "Kill 10 wolves." Runescape does not. Runescape uses its quests for stories. Some of those stories are exceptionally well made.

Runescape does not use a class system like some MMOs. It has many different skills, some of which are used for combat.

Runescape is definitely a "grinding" game. If you don't want to grind XP, you may not enjoy it.


The game could definitely use some more work. The company that operates the game, Jagex, has definitely had several problems. There is a lot of outdated content in the game that could use a fresh coat of paint at the very least. Very little of this will affect your gameplay as a new player.

Also, one mechanic that Runescape is lacking: multiple characters. Runescape has a one character = one account setup. You cannot create multiple characters per single membership. The only exception to this is that you can have one character in the modern "Runescape 3" game, and one character in "Old School Runescape", which is an alternative version of Runescape based on how the game played around 2007 (it IS still updated and maintained, it's not just an unsupported relic).

Your one character can do everything in the game, but if you like to roll multiple characters, you'll have to pay the membership fee for each character.


NOW I'll talk about the big bad boogeyman that you'll be hearing about from probably every single reviewer, the subreddit, the steam forums, the Runescape site's forums, that one random guy you know that knows everything, and that other random guy you know that knows nothing:

The game has both a monthly membership and micro-transactions.

The micro-transactions may be considered "aggressive". They range from cosmetics to small in-game XP bonuses. They are only pay-to-win in the sense that you can pay literally thousands of dollars to *not* play the game. Otherwise, they're not pay-to-win. For the most part, most of the outrage you'll see about them is simply that they exist.

Some of the outrage about micro-transactions is justified. Jagex has made some bad decisions and some of the micro-transactions are just terrible.
However, a massive amount of the outrage is generated by people who have played Runescape for over a decade, desperately miss the game they once had, and believe that literally anything and everything different is going to kill Runescape.

In short, the chances of the micro-transactions negatively affecting you are slim. If you've played literally any other MMO, or just about any game released in the last decade, you probably won't notice anything out of the ordinary. If that's a bad thing to you, fair enough.


My final recommendations:

If you get addicted to games easily, run away... or don't. You don't escape, you just take breaks.
Frankly, do not go to the Runescape subreddit. There are some good posts, and you might see some good information about the game. For the most part though, the only people left that browse the subreddit regularly are the most die-hard "fans" that hate-play Runescape, latch onto anything and everything bad the company does, and spam about how micro-transactions are ruining the game. Oh, also several people that won't hesitate to tell you constantly how "This is why I quit playing years ago" . It's also the type of subreddit that makes up roughly 0.01% of the playerbase, but unironically believes it accurately represents the will of the average players.

Just try the game out, and form your own opinion. Even I'm biased. It's impossible to play the game for literal years without being biased.

If you enjoy it, that's awesome! If you don't, it's understandable.

My friend was slowly being killed in a room and all I could do was listen to his horrified screams over the radio.

some of you haven't played the game for an hour yet, we get it, you don't like change, but give the game a chance, like fr. Also why is everyone acting surprised about what is included in the game so far ??? Konami made it clear that the game would be bare bones at launch, and that the "full game" will be slowly rolling out over the next few months.

Just have faith in them, im sure they know what they are doing, for now just play the game for what it is, and if you don't like it, then go play something else :)
