So when I first heard of Rimworld, it was soon after I had been playing an early alpha of prison arquitect and I have to admit I kind of brushed it aside as something similar. One day however, one sale, I though I should give it a try.

I was hooked, 200 hours later, I still try to not finish a game so as to not say "I'm done" with this colony. Currently playing with psycopath cannibals. Yep. Constant food supply from raids and those captured get their organs harvested for trade.

My god, this game has twisted me.

Having accumulated 18hrs of gameplay and having in mind this is early acces - prealpha stuff

# There's no real sense of progress, other than General Aviation, Commercial requires you to straight up use most of the items in the game just to get going which means there's no feeling in progress or rewards with new items/functionality which is the base of every tycoon game out there and it makes sense, that's the whole point of the genre so not sure how long you can go in to this game with this model of advancement.
# There's quite a few game-breaking bugs.
# Some mechanisms are infuriating and provide no real explanation on what's wrong / how things work (i.e. baggage and all that goes with it).
# You could have all the staff, vehicles and installations in the world, you will still have delays because what can only be described as a delay in the AI itself.
# If you want a sandbox mode, you can either select Sandbox mode or you can simply build a lot of small stands and set them to GA (General Aviation). Parking fees alone will give you all the income you'll ever need.
# Optimization is non existant, be aware, anything bigger than a small-ish airport will cause your FPS to drop way to low. I want to say this is understandable this early, but I'm also worried. If the base game is this poorly optimized, then it isn't going to get a hole lot better (look at Banished for example, same problem, was never trully fixed and End-Game was horrible because of this).

Now you may be wondering why this is marked as possitive review. I'm just giving you the negative aspects of what's otherwise, a fun game and well-worthed the asking price. For now I will not play anymore until it's matured a bit more but I look forward to that happening.

It would seem you completely forgot about us as we never heard from you or the British empire ever since we arrived in this god-forsaken land you like to call "the colonies", either that or figured we´d never make it or be dead soon and to be fair, I could see why you´d think that, let´s face it, the supplies you gave us to start with where... let´s just say... less than we had anticipated.

Oh, by the way, we had this guy come to town all the way from Italy if you´d believe it, his name was DaVonci, he´s a bit crazy but can paint very well as you can see from the depictions we sent you with this letter.

But aniway you know how we british are, always trying to make the best with what we have and 180 years later, well, you could say I live well.

And in a pretty nice neighbourhood, certainly better than that craphole in London.

But anyhow, we´ve progressed quite well, there´s 2147 people with us (by our last count) and well, because of it we have to cut wood quite slow, like at 2x (can you believe that!?) otherwise it becomes a bit "choppy" (no pun intended) or so I´m told by our local engineer, something to do with processing pathfinding, no idea whatsoever what that means, he´s also a bit crazy but we keep him around as he has some great stories for those cold winter nights.

Just so you know we´re not that angry at you, we do fly the good ´ol british flag next to our own town hall.

And in part it´s because we have kept some of our beloved English values, like citizen class (we asked DaVonci not to paint the smoke, again according to the engineer, it doesn´t help the choppyness apparently whatever that means!

Sure sometimes they complain that it´s crowded and that some of us have better houses but they quickly forget about it at the local Inns (the good ´ol bread and circus methology).

Plus you know, it has to be crowded, like 95% of our population is just there for food production (so much for a fully educated people).

You´ll be pleased to know we´re currently working on developing and much safer environment, there´s so many accidents and illness but we´re getting better at it, unfortunately, there´s still a lot of casualties but you know, at least the place looks cleaner and nicer as we progress.

Everyone everywhere should play World of Goo at some point in their life. I don´t usually care for indie games but this simply is a beutifull piece of work.
