If you're like me and you adored the original F.E.A.R. and it's expansions while finding it's sequels to be sorely disappointing, Trepang2 will give you what you've been wanting all these years. This is some of the most refined gun-play from a game in years, this is the new champion of indie shooters, even surpassing what F.E.A.R. was capable of doing in several ways. It demands to be experienced and likely will not be seconded for a very long time.

However, I must stress that this game comes with a weakness, and that's the fact the game is surprisingly short. If you're one of those people where length plays a role in how much you judge a game's quality, or someone pressed for cash and want the penny to go far, this may be a game to hold off on for now. Personally, I do feel the short length does hold the game back a bit, despite that what is on offer is still very high quality. Is there replay value and stuff on the side to enjoy? Yes there is, but this a caveat that holds the game back regardless. If Trepang2 ever receives expansions or any other kind of post-release content, at premium or otherwise, then I will have absolutely no complaints with this game.

This is so tantalisingly close to being perfect. Give me more, Trepang, please.

This is what Lara Croft sees in her mind when going on her adventures.

Even if you were to take the graphical enhancements out of question, this port manages to establish how much of the crow's feet within the old 1997 Turok were a result of the N64 more so than itself, mostly from how awkward it was to steer first-person games on the hardware's controller; Say what you will about the N64, that controller was a strange specimen. And now with the N64 taken out of the picture, this game feels completely different and improved in every possible way.

In fact, it kinda feels like what Doom 3 should have been ...

Top-to-bottom this is an absolutely stellar PC port. There are occasional small frame rate drops in unexpected areas, but it won't hamper you in any way. This is unquestionably excellent, and you owe it to yourself to try this, even if you skipped the N64 or if you weren't around at the time of the console's tenure (and I won't judge you for either).

I'm tingling at the base wondering what this could mean for Turok 2, and that was a game that sold the N64 - the game they'd always demo in the stores when showcasing the console. If Turok Dinosaur Hunter alone can be considered excellent on Steam, I have the suspicion Turok 2's going to be rocking the foundations and be considered for 2016's game of the year in the hearts of many.

I have got to say that its been really hard to piece together the words to express how this game makes me feel. And maybe that's the idea. Maybe its all meant to fit into how the game reminds you that life is in itself a puzzle, that the nature of humanity is an aspect that's very tricky to translate into the languages we've come and developed over the many years of our species' existance, that even in our advances, even with all the new tools we'll come and develop or aquire for ourselves, even through all the knew mechanics we'll establish for us and our fellow man, life...is just always going to feel like nothing but a never-ending series of puzzles to ponder over, and no matter how many different ways you try to look at it, or how many ways you try placing that box or that jammer, and no matter how many times you'll wander around in the vain hope of finding just one last laser reflector...

THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. THIS PUZZLE IS IMPOSSIBLE AND MAKES NO SENSE. THIS IS STUPID.
...
...
...

Dear god, this game is brilliant. This is the most amazing puzzle experience you'll ever go through. From its questions to humanity, to its overarching mystery, to its mind-bending puzzles, its a game that will keep you thinking from the beginning all the way to the end.

This is coming from a person who normally shuns puzzle games and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Croteam's Serious Sam 4 more than anything: THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN GAME OF THE YEAR. Absolutely sublime piece of software - a complete masterpiece.

The keyword to describe this game is "Love". I couldn't tell you where exactly the love is going towards, be it the old Shadow Warrior, the old shooter genre in general, martial art action/drama films, Eastern pop fiction or just good game development practice. But one thing is certain: this has got to be one of the most surprisingly high quality games I've ever encountered. While initially excited about Shadow Warrior making a comeback, I had my doubts about this game, I had thought that Devolver was going to try and ride on the success it was getting with Croteam's Serious Sam 3 and milk games of similar genre for all its worth in the style of Activision's usual workings, and after playing Hard Reset I had once thought Flying Wild Hog a group similar to The Farm 51 in that they were a studio no longer in the glory days of People Can Fly, and while trying their hardest weren't quite yet at that standard of quality people like me would be paying attention to.

I was wrong. I was wrong on every front. Not only has Devolver proved me wrong and established its a publisher willing to put time and money into a product as absurd and obscure as Shadow Warrior, but Flying Wild Hog has also proven to me that they were the studio that cleary are the best of the people that fled People Can Fly, and have managed to take an old magic to soaring new heights.

This game is something of a small miracle; its the video game equivilant of The Lego Movie. It is baffling just how polished and sophisticated this game's mechanics are. The sword combat is sharp and absolutely sublime, so much that it feels alien, like it should belong in another genre, in a game that would play like Devil May Cry or something from the works of Platinum Games. The moves and powers you can pull off with the sword are visercal and satisfying, and enemies will dismember like paper mache origami made from blood and internals. The guns meanwhile feel like the best parts of Painkiller and Bulletstorm with the visercal satisfaction of the former and the stragetic rewarding of the latter. There's no gun that's a giant stakegun or a weapon that'll let you steer sniper rounds up the taints of enemies, but there's a gun that'll shoot high-velocity, explosive crossbow bolts, and baby, I couldn't ask for anything more delightfully enjoyable.

And its all because of that keyword: love. There was no reason this game should have been this good, or even good at all, but because of the love from a small American publisher and an even smaller Polish developer, this game has hit completely out of the park in every possible way.

I cannot stress this enough: you need to try this game. Its a perfect 10/10, and its forever put Devolver and Flying Wild Hog on my radar.

While taking no serious risks to stand unique to them, Serious Sam 3 is a sharp improvement from its predecessors in every aspect. It holds the honor as the definitive Serious Sam game and the definitive old school shooter of this generation, with the only possible contestants to dethrone the latter honor being the recent Shadow Warrior, the upcoming Doom 4 and the series own upcoming sequel Serious Sam 4.

A very simple and addictive game that feels like an exaggerated format of Contra with a bit of Megaman, pleasently mixed with the asthestics of Terraria in a fast, fun, "what the hell is going on?" experience very much similar to Devolver Digital's own Hotline Miami.

Even for just a Beta, Brofroce boasts some real impressive potential. Devolver Digital has gradually been getting my attention, and Broforce may just be the one that sinks this publisher as a trusted and awesome source of good times. I'm definately anticipating the future updates this game will bring, and of course, any additional "Bros" that'll be added to the cast.

Fingers crossed for some Samuel Jackson and Nicholas Cage characters. Hell, let's just get the Predator in there.

Just to know this was a project done by the creators of Condemned: Criminal Origins, the original F.E.A.R., No One Lives Forever and Blood, back in the saddle of creative freedom, should be enough to warrant your curiosity. I purchased this back in August in hope that a seed would blossom into something unique, creative and depthful.

Seven months later, that is exactly what I've gotten.

My disposition towards Stream Greenlight and Early Access has always been one of caution and skepticism, but Betrayer has proven to be a fine example of what happens when the system works as it was made to. The world the game pits you into is one filled with mystery that fills you with a sense of empty loneliness reminiscent of the Fallout games. Its rare to see a game with an outdoor focus capture the essense of nature so well while managing to keep things so eerie to the player. This game will thrill you and it will chill you. Its both scary and a scary good time. I'm excited this turned out so well, and I'll be keeping my eye out for Blackpowder's next project.

To anyone who fondly remembers the days of the Atari 2600, the ColecoVision, or any system before the era of Nintendo, I urge you to consider adding this game to your library. The game's simplistic idea and design has allowed the one-man studio to jam enough charm, color and passion to far surpass anything I've seen in an indie game.

You'll come into this game expecting a quick laugh, you'll stay for the nostalgia, the joy and all the pleasent surprises that'll cross your every turn.

This game. Ohhhhh, this game. It was one of the most powerful games of it's time, and still holds up as an emotional and involving piece second to only that of Half-life. Either from it's chilling atmosphere to it's deep, involving story to it's rock-solid combat, this game will thrill you to the core, and you will finish it feeling emotionally drained and deeply satisfied.

And the expansions? They're alright. Extraction Point focused more on the horror and tenseful atmospheres, while Perseus Mandate was mostly about the gun fights and hard pumping action. Take your pick on which one to go through first after beating the first game, as it doesn't really matter.

This game is every Half-life 2 zombie modder's dream come alive..developed by zombie modders. Its a fun and addictive experience coated with strong atmopshere, solid cooperative elements, colorful characters (I'd be the chums of Louis and Francis anyday..) and a strong community of level designers who keep the flare alive with awesome and compelling custom maps.
