I don't like when game throws 100% content IMMEDIATELY on first run and forces me to learn everything myself. How am i supposed to figure out what to do, while there is killer-timer? If i do something wrong and waste time - i lose, but in order to not lose you have to already know what exactly last week quota is and what late-game resources you should aim at.

The other problem is, each day you repeat same actions: reloading furnaces, collecting honey, taking crafted boards and polished stone from respective building, then recharge it all with new items - repeat next day. I got really annoyed after 15 days.

RNG events - on my first run a meteor dropped, killing half my farm fields, scarecrow and all honey makers. Pretty much all i built. And then random reward choice gave me $25k for free which ruins early-mid game balance as you have enough to just straight up pay first 3 quotas.

Overall i dod not liked it, you should never throw all content at player at once and expect him to figure all out in a hour. Instead of playing gonna watch some YouTube walktroughs, maybe second game will be more mature and properly designed.

Game took Puzzle route instead of strategy-town-builder and shot it's own knee. Each time you progress to new tier there is feeling that you haven't really achieved anything and soon game will just end without any extra modes or challenges. Each tier is almost fully separate from others, so it feels more like 8 or so projects slapped together rather than one interconnected game. It lacks depth, lacks freedom and lacks cozyness. Just quickly reach new essence and connect lazer to base by spending 1 hour, now move on to next essence and lazes. Where is fun?

Is it a good puzzle? Not really - Blue Prince is good puzzle. Is it a good story? Nah, mostly birds blubbering about something you forget in 5 secs. Is it a good war game - nah, very basic 'surround enemy with your units and they dissapear' without inventory management, skill trees or heroes. It feels like pre-alpha of actual game that needs 3-5 years of extra development with mechanics that are finger-deep. Maybe it deserves 'neutral' review, but we don't have one.

First Impressions
Underdeveloped with zero life quality features, interface bugs and overall lack of design direction. Devs never listened to comunity. Game requires heavy grind for faction you chose and majority of factions have stupidly OP bonuses at some point, like get hit and gain permanent +10 lifesteal, so each turn you lifesteal more and more. But first grind for 20 hours to get there! Animation is crude, traps and minions make no sense. Heck, they did whole mechanic of moving around castle just for the sake of 1 character who benefits from moving, for 7 others it makes no sence.

The Grind
Alright, normally, games allow you to respec skill points but NOT HERE. Your choice is permanent for that account, so think twice before investing into something. If you want to try warrior of blood school and then check his skill tree, there are some very usefull upgrades - you want to buy them so he becomes playable and you can actually tell then if it is worth playing him. Want to try someone else - all other 3 schools are still at zero lvl, so have to strat grinding points for them separately and you will die no matter what without OP upgrades. Did i mention that enemies look the same, feel the same, there is no varietty in artifacts, traps, minions? Your grind will be boring hard work instead of 'oh pls give me one night more'.

Replayability
None. Each run feels exactly the same despite picking different hero. The idea of all battles is weird - you HAVE TO stack on lifesteal so each hit heals for atleast 40 HP, cus monster can easy deal 150 dmg in a turn. Did i mention you have about 160 strarting HP without grinding? Yep, each time you get 20 upg points all heroes receive +20 max hp permanently, which is very stupid balance choise, like everything else here. Oh yea, max points is 2000, enjoy your stay forever.

Verdict
Super weird design for roguelite: you start so weak, it is impossible to even reach mid-run, then you grind same enemies for 20-ish hours to get 1 hero and 1 school to decent powerlevel... And finally stomp enemies with grind, not with skill, not with experience, not with character build or strategic thinking. What a stupid concept.

What an ugly mess, ugh. First of all, all postive reviews are new accounts with only few games in library, i assume they are relatives of devs / friends / hard fans.

Here what you can expect of this "not a game", since this is just piece of random code:
- No story, no objectives, "you can switch weapons with mouse wheel" - this is all interraction with game;
- Hero randomly jumps on his own;
- Enemies spawn and despawn out of thin air, flicker, get stuck in textures;
- No stats, no inventory, no saves;
- After death monster strarts shrinking for some reason until model visually dissapears;
- Laggs, no proper options;
- When moving forward you can't see what is behind;
- When moving through tubes that block all vision, there could be monsters inside, so you don't know where to shoot;
- Gun shoots at random intervals, has weird delay, attacks in random directions and bullets live their own life;
- Inconsistent dmg - sometimes monster dies from 1 shot, sometimes from 5.

Biggest crap of 2025 so far and it will be very hard to actually take place of this game and be even worse.

Very boring, nothing to do, gives zero 'initial energy' for a player. By 'energy' i mean every game gives certain level of boost to a player to make him want to actually give it more time to show itself. For example, you start "Heart of Galaxy" and immediately interested in developing planets, investigating space, increasing production for limited amount of structures and slowly progress. In Milky way there is just brief tutorial and then 1 million menus all at once in your face, all doing pretty much the same.

Played hundreds of clickers and idlers - they pretty much all had atleast some level of initial fun to keep me interested for 1-2 hours atleast. Sure, majority of them died out quickly, but man, Milky Way early-game is worst presentation i ever seen in gaming.

Quite cheap price for what it offers. This is solid Top Down Shooter and i would even say one of the best you can find on PC (aside from Alien Shooter and Crimsonland HD). While yes, it does not attempts to offer something new nor gives fresh perspective, but heck, none of arena shoters do and i played HUNDREDS of them. Mechanics are polished and there are 9 maps, unlike majority of Vampire Survivors clones which offer 1-3 only and ask double if not triple the price.

Runs are fast (15 minutes) with extra feature to speed things up. Three difficulty levels for each map adding more currencies and bosses. Plenty of heroes, good varietty of perma-upgrades aka Path of Exile skill tree. Grind is medium (each fight lets to unlock 5-10 nodes).

Runs smooth 60 FPS on 13-y old PC, not causing any dissiness, very clean UI and no chaotic bullet hell on screen, so you always know what is going on and how to manage difficult situations by using gaps in monster attacks.

'Off beat' mechanic should go away from this game, else i am not buying it. This is supposed to be a game about rhytm, so why some creatures are not in sync? It does not make sense and overcomplicates things too much, also forcing you to simply shut down music since it it not relevant to what happens on screen.

Difficulty gets hard too fast and too many creatures introduced at once, while player still haven't learned basics, which is second off-putting feature. Difference between each difficulty setting is KILOMETERS away, you should smooth it up and make stages grow in difficulty slowly and not introduce new elements when level risen - instead, different tracks should have different creatures unique only to them.

Tutorial is very long and teaches bunch of late-game stuff for no reason, which new players don't need to know about (let alone master). Tracks also too long, they should not take more than 80-90 seconds, atleast for newcomers, else game simply becomes tiring and while played only 30 minutes i got tired like played 10 hours of Titan Quest non stop.

For now it has many problematic sides and cannot be recommended.

Ugh, so basically positive reviews weirdly prising developer and delivering respects while negative ones stating it's boring. None of which was usefull for me, so gave it 3 hours to see myself. You might say this is not enough time - but thanks to lucky circumstances i was able to get much further than supposed. So here we go:

The genre
This is a clicker which can be played as idler - you either do things manually non stop or let it auto-farm for a while, both of which are vialbe ways to play. But if being very active, 1-2 hours are enough to see everything game has to offer. I was greatly annoyed by looped 5-seconds long music over and over, by very cheap sounds, childish visuals and animation consisting from 2 frames. But hey, we are gamers, we are here for content, not for pesky music or grapchics!

Unique features
None. This game is not providing anything new or fresh to genre and has no features that can scream 'this is my own style!'. Everything is half-baked and primitive even below level of Cookie Clicker and Clicker Heroes which are ages old and have 0 content on their own. There are pretty much only 4 areas: mine to mine stone, beach with a tree for wood, arena for clicking monsters and home for everything else (with few much smaller areas). All of it could be placed in a single screen, but oh well. And that is pretty much whole gameloop:
- Go to mine, mine > upgrade pick > mine > upgrade axe > mine > upgrade sword > mine;
- Go to beach, chop enough wood for second round of upgrades > return to mine, repeat;
- Upgrade sword, go to arena, kill repeating monsters that loop after 200 stages > go home, reset island to zero.

You will not find fancy features like researches, craft, runes, elements, branching story-questing, inheritance etc like Magic Reasearch 2 has or any other great idle-clicker. You just mine most of the time and telling yourself 'maybe something new gonna happen in 30 minutes'... But after 30 minutes you still mine, chop, fight, reset and nothing really new getting added after resets, just bunch of features that should have been there from start.

But you played for only 3 hours!
Okay, first of all, if you activate promo codes there are few thousands of donator gems to get you rocket-started. Then just spend it all on chests and equip 3 items from RNG-sus to improve farming power by 600%+. Then it is very easy to max out home, campfire and pets in matter of minutes cus you can faceroll arena way-WAY deeper than supposed (game asked to beat area 200, but i was able to reach area 1000). And that is part of problem - even tho got very deep in arena, next reset still wanted me to reach lvl 300, next one lvl 400, but why am i supposed to do that if alreay was there before? Stretching cus of lack of content, aren't we? Then i got random starting bonus +300 lvls to sword and simply ignored mining and axe chopping at all, went straight to arena and reset once more in seconds. B - Balanced.

Final thoughts
It is not worth your time at all, Island Clicker can be considered as those '2 of 5 stars' games from kongregate (which is long-dead). It has clunky UI, no popup / hover-over explanation of stuff, inconsistent art style, complete lack of story and bad visuals, music, sounds, animation. No matter which part of the game you look at, it is just below any minimal acceptable level of quality.

Needs optimisation a lot. Played game during early days and it was fine and fun, now purchased polished version and it is simply unplayable. During Orx Archers attack fps dropped from 60 to 9-15, changing quality to low mode did not helped. Did another run without archers and reduced resolution to min (1300x700), fps still shows signs of instability, jumping between 50-60 in later waves. Now, there wasn't much going on in terms of development since july (for about 6 months so far), i am a reluctant to put hope into game. Majority of discussions and bugs topics mentioning lag / fps problems as well and the only response from dev - 'give us game logs' without further closure. Not seeing any roadmap or news either.

2,5 Years in EA is already too much, at this point it is just another endless abandoned stretch which Steam allows for some reason (wink, Planet Centauri, wink). Comunity is dead in discord and Steam forums, from the look of it devs aren't actively working on game, nor on comunity side of things, so yeah, i guess it is time to move on. It was cool idea tho.

No idea why so much hype about it, game is very basic and does not brings anything new to genre. Yes, it mixes economy part with tower defense part, but cmon, we already have bunch of those as well, like Primeworld Defenders 2. Northold with it's 5 towers and 14 buildings cannot compete with Defenders 2 that has 80+ towers and 80+ heroes (aka buildings), for free (and that is just once example). If we look at tower defense aspect alone, projects like Broken Universe have incredible amount of stages, bioms, monsters, upgrade systems and synergies. While more rare species like Variables 2 bring incredible depth with pathing. And what can Nordhold offer? Barebones pathing choises of turning left or right, all towers being simple circle range and repetative economy in every run. Heck, even Thronefall does better job with all that and i don't even like it for how little content there is.

Every run is different you woul say, but once again, i can counter with several better choises, even among EA titles, like FrankenStorm TD: Prologue, just go check that game right now, you will be trully surprised.
