If you, as a man, truly liked the female body, you'd want to have one for yourself. At which point, you're not really a man anymore, are you? The same thing can be applied vice-versa for women.

Being heterosexual requires you to inhabit a very weird and very uncomfortable middle ground where you're interested in the opposite sex, but not too interested. And you're also very specific with your interest. You're interested in their bodies, but only as a means to an end to get your rocks off. You don't actually want to know about how their bodies work or how their inner experience as a human being is - that's just gross.

Interaction with the opposite sex is more of an obligation imposed by your own horniness than actual thing you seek out. People naturally seek out friends of their own gender. That's why having too many friends of the opposite sex is so often a sign that you're trans. Being heterosexual doesn't change that reality.
