Regarding Other Reviews
NO, this game does not include Epic spyware The Epic services are disabled by default. The Devs listened to the community feedback and patched this very quickly.

In reality Spellforce 3 does have many quality of life improvements since the Reforced remake. They are just behind the Options menu. I suggest you take a look at the Key Mapping as well, because there are 2 control schemes for you to customize. You can even switch scheme mid game. There IS a Pause functionality called "Click'N'Fight" that opens up a skill action wheel (default key: ALT). You can customize whether Click'N'Fight Pauses time, Slows time or uses Real Time (time factor is disabled in multiplayer)

AI Wise, it's similar to any other game. No, the AI isn't worse than other games of the same genre, they're all mediocre. As difficulty increases, AI cheats, gets more resources and rushes earlier. That's it, you probably won't find better in strategy games.

--- My Review ---
Beautiful game with a blend of RTS and top down RPG. Tons of functionalities. Very interesting multiplayer.
TLDR: Worth the full price but I would recommend to wait for sales to buy the different versions.

Give it a try by downloading the Spellforce 3 Versus for free.

Clarification: Ignore my game time, all the Spellforce 3 games are actually grouped under the SF3 Versus launcher and game interface. As such, game time is split among the 3 launching path. Thus game time is calculated depending on which "version" you launch. With the Reforced remake, all versions need the Versus launcher as all games land in the same main menu hub. Therefore, each "standalone" game simply unlock their respective campaign, game modes and factions.

Gameplay
+ Pro: The mix between RPG and RTS is very interesting. It is both simple enough to quickly grasp the basics and complex enough to give it a real learning curve.
+ Pro: Heroes are very strong and can turn the tide of battle with a well placed and well timed skill. They are quite diverse and customizable.
+ Pro: Each unit has unique roles and synergies within a faction. There is a real depth when it comes to strategy.
+ Pro: Economy is managed through a sector system. This streamlines the worker management and resource gathering aspect.
+ Pro: So many game modes and submodes:
Campaign : Blends Story, top down Hero RPG and RTS missions
Skirmish : classic RTS with regular fixed Heroes.
Journey : go through missions or skirmishes with your custom campaign-like hero.
Arena : MOBA-style survival wave battles

- Con: No tutorial for complete beginners of the genre. I suggest you start the campaign in easy and discover as you go, with the help of the pop up tips.
- Con: No simple military formation system. It does a have click and drag system in place but it's a bit clunky. It does get the job done but I wish there more formations like Age of Empire. Frontline units automatically go in the front and range in the back.

Multiplayer
+ All standalone versions offer VS multiplayer as well as COOP.
+++ The COOP is extremely fun and expanded. You can play COOP in EVERY single game mode. A rare feat these days. In Campaign, Journey or Arena mode, you and your friends can control your own Hero and/or camp. However the following is the most interesting part:
You can play as the SAME base in Skirmish mode. Meaning up to 3 people can manage all aspects of the game such as control of the army, heroes, unit production or economy. Permissions can be adjusted beforehand. Which opens up tons of possibilities with your friends.

Graphics
+++ Pro: Gorgeous, just look at the screenshots and videos. So much details *chef's kiss*

? No Idea about optimization as I run a laptop RTX 3070. I seem to run 90fps in Ultra 2560x1600

- Minor Con: The lack of Journey Hero portraits for some races. Hero customization is fine, not that important since you spend most of the time in top down. However there's a crucial lack of Portraits! Humans and Trolls get 10+ while elves barely get 1 or 2. Why?

Sound
+ The musics are nice and the voice acting well done.

Story
I've yet to complete a campaign so there's not much I can say. So far so good. Replayability comes from the infinite amount of party builds.

Conclusion
The devs have made an excellent game, very detailed and quite polished. They listen to the community's feedback.
Don't forget to install SpellForce Versus and enjoy with your friends.

It's an EXCELLENT game worth way more than it currently is. It possesses the quality of games worth 3 times its price. Not to mention the free post game DLC. The devs are also very responsive and listen to the community's feedback. The game is quite lenghty, I'm a 100h in and I haven't even finished the story yet. Although I must say I'm taking my sweet time. This is only season 1 and it's already so full.

Gameplay : Best thing about this game. Troubleshooter's gameplay is based on xcom; it is a tactical turned-based game that factors in units' speed. Yet it is a lot more refined and in-depth than xcom with all the diverse abilities. It also combines RPGs' stats, itemization, masteries specialization and customization. I would say that is Troubleshooter's biggest strength as it can drastically change the playstyle of any given character and improves the game's replayability. The fact that you can switch between different builds at any given time is very appreciated. The hundreds of enemies also have their own sets of masteries and abilities that creates a lot of tactical options. There are also choices that affect the development of the mission, and you can replay them to your heart's content to unlock different rewards.

Graphics : Very subjective so I will just say I'm personally fond of the anime art style. It is quite impressive considering this is an indie game. There are tons of details in the maps and the animation. The more you look and the more you realize that the game is beautifully handcrafted.

Music & Story : Very subjective as well. The story line is quite long and intriguing. Sometimes silly sometimes dark or melancholic but nothing too gritty. I personally wasn't completely immersed in it but it holds up. Be aware that the first chapter (the first 8 missions or so) are pretty much a lenghty tutorial that introduces new in-depth mechanics. Music wise I would say that is where I wished there was more. Although you can customize your experience and choose from ~20 song to play during combat or lobby, I wished there were more that I personally vibe with (besides that 1 rock song).

Bug wise, barely noticed any. The game is has been out for about a year now. The only thing I noticed was a very slight graphical glitch, didn't hamper the mission at all.

TLDR An amazing game that combines the best of tactical xcom games and anime RPGs. Worth the full price. A complete steal on sale.
