Damn they really went "hey you know how people hated every single part of the lightfall campaign especially the artificial difficulty, spammed restricted spawn zones, and terrible encounter design? What if we made everything about that worse in the new expansion!"

These encounters are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slogs that you have to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over by cheap ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ once so you can learn the no go zones where they just instantly spawn ♥♥♥♥ in or the breakpoints where they just add in a ton of enemies with even more inflated health pools than what was in lightfall. Oh on top of that the new enemies are all extremely overpowered. Every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one has a CC, and the yellow bars have a hard CC, abilities they can spam that 2 shot you, and are hyper mobile with a small weakpoint. Oh yeah and they over use the nazerec ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in narrow areas too usually spawning them at the end of an encounter where you have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ammo.

This is more of a slog than carrying 2 massively under light players through the season of the deep dungeon.

The game is great but act II is actually bad in its current state.

Act II is unreasonably over tuned for ranged characters where there's enemies that aggro and attack off screen, enemies that zip around so fast if you don't have increased proj speed/chain you will not hit them with your attacks, there's enemies that teleport around (most of the time away from you) and there's so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aoe spam that you'll die as soon as you run out of dodges at 19:00. So good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck with melee characters because all of the melee AoE scaling is terrible.

Also achievements lost all meaning beyond being achievements because they don't even give new talent points despite in the previous version they gave passive power.

IT DOESN'T CHANGE TO THE OLD HYPE AF COMBAT MUSIC. No wait it does it just randomly doesn't do it sometimes no idea why. In fact its missing a several of the best tracks. Also the level up SFX is pitched wrong.

TLDR: Blizzard level ass backwards programming idea destroys performance for no gain in quality.

I need people to understand how STUPID this as capcom put it "cpu bottleneck" is. The game simulates EVERY NPC on the CPU. This is DUMBER than the Diablo 4 issue where it loaded every player's entire stash into memory on every single machine in the instance. Not only is this system completely pointless for random peasant #32 there's MULTIPLE better ways to do it: GPUs can already be used to do it MORE EFFICIENTLY and FASTER, just script a routine for the NPCs like they did in DDDA, etc.

This is like bitcoin mining with your CPU. Stupidly inefficient and pointless. Also even ryzen 5850Xs are having frame dips from this. (That's actually insane because of how ludicrous those CPUs are for gaming.) I would bet money that this entire system is the reason why console is 30fps locked.

All of this for the NPCs to STAND AROUND DOING NOTHING. Its unironically the same level of quality for the NPCs as DDDA for 50x the resources.

The game at its core is fun and polished but jfc what is this. The expected response to a developer posing this should have been "No that's stupid" or "No that's stupid do it on the GPU not the CPU"

My other grievances:
Absurd mtx (like 1$+ for ♥♥♥♥ you find in seconds if not minutes), apparently no way to change your appearance without paying this one I've verified as false there was a ton of people making the claim and it was hard to find evidence to the contrary, weird performance issues with seemingly no cause in the open world, filtering pawns in the rift is just gone for no reason at all Its randomly there now no idea if it was a patch or level restricted or what its arbitrarily restricted depending upon what riftstone you're at which is stupid (still can't individual refresh).

It's become worse

I decided to get back into the game and before I did went to check up on recent patches. It's still nerf city, anti fun, incompetent "balancing" where the devs don't even play their own game. They also nerfed warbonds. Needless to say I decided not to get back into the game afterall. So much for the CEO/owner going back into a dev position to make the game better.

7.5/10 This is hands down the best non FromSoftware souls-like I have ever played. It has similar elements of story telling albeit still having direct story telling, the gameplay is some of the most polished I've played in the genre, it has a great artistic style, and it feels satisfying.

Its not without its flaws though. My main complaints are the way perfect guards work, the p organ tree, and gear balancing.

Perfect guard has one flaw that games like sekiro didn't: its too precise for the way its implemented. The timing for a perfect guard changes based upon where you and the enemy are standing. Due to how precise the timing is, you need to stand still unless you want it to be super inconsistent. Combine this with things that cannot be guarded and things that are way too risky to try to guard and you can get a frustrating experience.

The p organ (aka your skill tree) feels padded out: The main issue is invaluable things like dodge improvements are in the tree and if you skip them you will make your time worse. The tree is also counter intuitive wherein you actually want to fill out the first 2 phases in their entirety before moving onto the later phases because of how the minor nodes scale with completed full nodes and not the phase itself.

Every defensive piece of gear will only get heavier and there are no lightweight sets unless you go for basically naked or starting gear which in this game is a major downside. HP scaling is similar to Elden Ring but defensive scaling of gear is almost the same way in terms of carry weight. Pretty much every build is going to want to dump a ton of points into carry capacity because otherwise you'll be getting 1 shot with 40+ points into health. 20 points of health and 20 points of carry weight is vastly superior to 40 points of health. I'd even argue that 20 health and 40 carry is more valuable than the inverse.

Can't use your WG account with the steam client so you can't use steam wallet for your account. So this is only useful if you don't already have an account.

Fun survivor game that aims to diversify the game with items that change the way you play characters entirely.
