The good
The cars feel, sound, and look great. The tracks look amazing. Has some fun multi class races, and more accurate hybrid systems than most games out there
The bad, oh boy
The game is in early access and still limits you to half of what they have without buying another game's worth of DLC.
On top of that, they want you to buy into a subscription to do any online races, but the daily race.
Say you do get the game, get a car you like, practice the daily track (if you have it). You do the qualifying, great. Now getting to the race is an issue. The game usually can't load the join button before the race starts, if you try to reload, it locks you out even if you've registered and qualified for that event. If you do get in, you may just get a pit lane start for no reason.
The game needs some serious work, but they want you to pay for it like it has years of content. Honestly, either wait for it to get cleaned up, or just buy another game. It's so hard to even get a daily race to work right and the game certainly isn't doing you any favors.
I've done at least four events by this point, and the only one that worked properly I got punted off at turn 2.

As far as battle royal games go, this is the only one that I've actually enjoyed, and it's FREE. The mechanics are pretty simple, easy to learn (which is very important) and the game overall feels very smooth as I've come to expect from a Respawn Entertainment game. It can take a while to unlock new characters especially if you are starting late and they've added several since the game's release, but it's not too daunting of a task. Overall, if you are even interested in a battle royal game, grab a friend or two, and try this game out, it's worth more than you pay for ;) .

This was a very enjoyable and lasting game for me. I thought that this game would be extremely complicated, but it's surprisingly not. The game is easy to understand. It gives you the deep control that you want without you getting lost inside its options. You can change the scale, from a single system with a few planets to galaxies full of large star systems. You can play at a size you're comfortable with and move up slowly in scale, and even play with or against your friends. Through this large game there is much to explore with many factions, which each have their own units and their own research trees. For someone to research everything in all of the factions would take more time than most players have. The game keeps you in with different things to do and different ways to do them constantly. I highly recommend this game for the advert strategy gamer or even someone new to RTS games. It gives deep feel for advert gamers and an easy to understand structure to not block out new RTS gamers. All are welcome and all are capable.
