Story and aesthetic is good with a Oregon Trail type of management system. However. That doesn't save the turn based tactics gameplays flaws

if you want to just experience the story and don't care about the gameplay you can ignore this review

Gameplay Cons:
- No elevation. Every battle is flat. Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1 had elevation and much, much more engaging play spaces than this game.
- Very limited RNG in combat and it becomes very repetitive.
- There is only some 5 enemy units in the game
- Doesn't allow you to undo movement before taking an action.
- No environmental elements to play space.

The "story mode" should have been chopped and the base defense should have been what the game focused on. Too much rng and grind for a zombie shooter.

Crashes on boot and unable to play UPDATE -> You have to use 8 cores or less to play the game. Use msconfig

I have played the physical board game. This digital version of the game shows a lack of effort and is not worth the purchase.

Cons:
- Only one camera angle that you can zoom in and out out from. You cant just zip around freely and look at the board.
- The UI is unintuitive and the text is blurry and hard to read. When selecting card just have them in a list to the side of the screen so we can look at the board when choosing card.
- The actual board should be much bigger to give a since of epic scale. It feels like it was made in the early 2000's and has a cheap graphical fidelity. The landscapes can look much better than what they are.
- The battles could have had cool animations but they are very clearly slapped together with minimal effort.
- I couldn't get into a multiplayer game

TL:DR

Low effort digital edition version of the board game that is not worth the price tag and muddles the original games fun. Just go play the real version or lets mod this on tabletop simulator or something to get it done right.

It is a good concept but at the moment poorly executed:

Pros:
- Trying to run from zombies to get from point A to B is fun
- The Them vs Us feeling when playing with the team is fun
- Good idea and concept for a l4d mix with infection type gamemode

Cons
- The gun tiers has no place in the game really and ads a unneeded bloat to make it feel like there is more content.
- Floaty gameplay and double jumping feels out of place and tacky. Movement is not well polished and needs a lot of work.
- The train is not enjoyable. If it was just get to point A and B like l4d it would be much more fine tuned and enjoyable. The scavenging away from the train with zombie around you is the best part of the game.
- Melee and gunplay needs more oompf to it. Feels very light and unrewarding

Overall I hope this game grows but right now I would say sit and wait before purchasing.

Cons
  • Demons(Bosses) are not a threat and can't leave the area they are contained in. This leads to repetive boss fights that feel like a chore. This also makes the game much more repetitive than it needs to be. Tracking down the bosses location within an area and having to find them in the area while they roam would be much more engaging.

  • General Enemies are not a threat as well as they don't wonder outside of there area and you can just predetermine where they will be. The only one that you have to really watch out for is the water tentacles.

  • The performance is harsh. I have to play this on low to get good frames with a 970 and when that is done there are visual glitches all over.

  • Once you go over a certain threshold you are put with the top tier players forever. The game needs a middle ground and better matchmaking. I shouldn't be facing a level 3 prestige when I haven't even prestiged yet. Part of the fault is the low player count on this game.

  • All scopes are pretty much useless. The aperture sight is like looking through the hole of a sewing needle.

  • Some of the "talents" are useless like the stay aimed down sight when shooting a shotgun when reloading.

  • Only a max of 2 players, a 4 man squad mode would be welcomed.

Pros
  • The binaural sound is amazing. You feel immersed in this game with how well done the sound is.

  • Atmosphere and visuals, if your pc can handle it, is engrossing. You feel like you are in a hot thick humid fog of a swamp covered with fiendish enemies.

  • Gunplay is slow but rewards a skilled hand and there is a mastery level to the game.

  • The thrill of losing a hunter with the perma death never goes away. Even if you do lose them you keep your experience and money so it is not too punishing.

  • Enemy design is great and unsettling. They just need to be more threatening gameplay wise and it would be perfect

Consensus
The game has a lot of potential. However it swings short on execution for its ideas in some areas and it is really hurting the game. Bosses and enemies need to be more of a threat and not contained to an area.

In its current state I would recommend waiting this one out until it makes some major improvements.

With that being said. The experience I had from the game was worthwhile and I can't not recommend it.
