Early Access Review
"This game has great potential". But first, let me explain some more things.

Firstoff, I used to play DD1 back in the days and now I am playing DD2, for obvious reasons. It's so much fun!
Secondly, I try to mention everything, I can think of off the top of my head.

Without further ado, let's review.

What I like:
I like the character design, as it just looks fitting. I also find the respective skill-sets to be quite fitting to their character as well.
Another thing, that greatly adds to the gameplay, is the usage of the Skill-Spheres. I do find them quite balanced, as they don't augment any backend values too much, to overpower a character/skill. But I like the Uber-Spheres the most, since they can greatly change how your character works, but still in a balanced way.
I also like the map-design. No, I don't like it... I LOVE it, it's gorgeous!
Additionally I find it awesome, that new character have been added, new maps have been added and I like that there is active backend and frontend work, which really adds to the game's uniqueness.
Besides that stuff I love the difficulty-balancing and design of AI enemies, frontend and backend.
Also, Pets! Just like in DD1, the pets here are awesome, although I do miss the chicken pet from DD1, that shoots eggs, haha.
Oh, and EVENTS! The latest event (as of Nov. 26th 2016) is the Terraria-DD2-Crossover, which really adds to the game, as well as the carnival event (as in February 2016). I really love/d it.

What I am not sure how to feel about:
Although I commended the (among other things) character-wise backend work, I am not sure if I should like the viability-changes to ie. the Apprenice and Squire, because (as far as my knowledge goes) recent changes forced the Squire to be a Hero-Health and Defense-based character, whereas the Apprentice is seemingly way stronger when using Ability-Power and Hero-Damage. (as of Nov. 26th 2016)

What I dislike:
Well... I actually dislike the fact, that one doesn't have an individual Crystal, that can be customized, just like in DD1. I loved it back in the days.
I'd also like to mention, that there are bugs, such as the character getting stuck in/between meshes, when jumping/walking around the map. That happens especially, when a wave is inbound, thus the game being heavily loaded, but I do have to say, that's it's quite easy to get unstuck, but it's still a bummer.
I don't if this is true or not, but it seems to me, that when I engage heavy waves and I attack (I play melee Monk), the damage sometimes doesn't get through and the enemy hasn't lost any health whatsoever (I always play with max. 31ms latency, on European Union servers, as I live in GER).

Bottom Line:
I recommend this game, due to it's gorgeous artistic design, careful character- and map-design. It is also extremly fun to play this game, especially when w/ friends, what I always recommend. Yes, there are bugs, yes not everything has been implemented (or even invented for that matter) yet, due to the game being in Alpha/Beta state, but it's still very playable.
