I USE to hate this game. Back in EA it was impossible. Lately, after all the updates since the 1 year+ since I last played it, I can't stop. It can still frustrate the heck out of me on some runs but overall its a grinding game. Frickin good, beefy weapons, and some humor thrown in.

Beautiful and provoking. Adorable and intimidating.

I can't sleep anymore. I can't even finish the game. WHAT YEAR IS IT? DEAR GOD, WHOSE IN THE WHITE HOUSE?!

Sleep is for the weak after all. That's why I play this game; so I don't have to sleep anymore ahbgahawhahdkawdhlkwadhfawGodsavemysoul.

Barely touched yet but I know I love it already. Simple and elegant.

Edit 2/3/22: I have taken a recent look into the game before talking with a dev in the discussions and here's my updated takeaway;

Skins and dragons via KS are still exclusive to those people.
Game mechanics have gotten a bit better but it still lacks much else to do than grow your dragon and breed with others for trait stats.
The dev I talked to [bad_parrot] was extremely satisfactory in replying to me despite what I had been saying and the emotion I expressed was behind it so I appreciate him for that.

Overall, I still cannot recommend it, honestly. Just because of where the game itself is at after all the time when the page says they had hoped to be out of EA by around nowish and its basically still where it was when it started (even with a patreon pulling 7k/mo after the KS 500k). Nevertheless, I reserve some hope for the future as my original review said and still will for posterity's sake. It's now old and mostly outdated so take what's next with some grains of salt. I haven't bothered with the discord since either, and don't really intend to.

I am a backer from the kickstarter, two accounts for it in fact (to get the rewards i wanted that latecomers got all of; already a bad start). I have done nothing but back up the rough and slow development of the game from the start. But if you're reading this, it's likely you've been hearing of the crapfest that has happened the last week before I wrote it.

As it stands, I will not recommend the game. The way inwhich the dev team, mods and etc have handled every situation has been out of line, unprofessional and frankly, shady. Promises after promises were stretched and eventually broken, multiple bannings for the slightest unfavored review or opinion, constant drama therefore, and now hardcode banning users and deleting valid reviews unlike any other company has ever done on steam.

They have gone out of their way to keep the name looking pretty with screenshots, promoted users to spread the "good news" and find more ways to get money and white wash old promises and ideas. I can't even consider this a company because a professional company would not have the per-say CEO raging on discord channels and banning players himself, or digging through reviews and putting out so many direct responses like a butthurt group of kids arguing against the teacher and thinking they're being adults for presenting themselves directly. I literally cannot fathom the way this has all unfolded and the sly ways they've gone about to explain their lies as not-lies (IE; claiming they don't sell it on their own website when they literally do and the literal next newscast they put out talks about how its being sold on their store is okay).

Originally, I was against the 'witchhunters' of youtube and such. I defended this game and had hope for it. But now, after this last bout and banning players from the game, I cannot do it anymore. I love the idea of this game, I loved the expectations and support from players it had and worked to do my part. But right from the start I was using more and more denial-in-hope and its run out.

When they have unbanned players and added actual mechanics to make this game playable in a way that would give one an experience no matter what, instead of being a glorified chat hub (where sure, its fun to hop around as a dragon), I will give it another go and update my review. But for now; they have already gotten enough money to get it somewhere decent, and they've had enough time to build out a better skeleton. And if they can grow up with the way they're treating the support/playerbase, maybe we'll see something good. Hopefully some day this will just be a dramatic start to its history. But for now;

Don't get the game, just wait for it to be worth the cost. And I say that as someone whose put in ~200 bucks via kickstarter.

Bugs? Yes, even some day ones still there.
Placeholder models? Yes and no, they're working on them. "Working".
Over all development? Crawling, but its a small team. BUT they refuse larger help.
Staff? Egoists, arrogant, rude, childish, cannot handle any criticism obviously.
Drama? Lots of it.
Whiteknighting fans? Hell yes, I was even one but not after the latest travesties and uncalled for actions. They'll tell you to take the negs lightly but they're still TRUE. Don't downplay them, but allow time to fix mistakes. If that's possible.

I LOVE THIS GAME.

It will not run on Windows 10. Last time I played was on 7 and I went to replay it again and it WILL NOT launch, even after hours of tweaking settings here and there. I've seen multiple forum replys from Ubisoft shrugging their shoulders, saying it wasn't designed for 10 and ironically saying to enjoy the game right after. I've seen other users claim to get it to run on their W10 but I'm still seeing lots of no's. I'll make this review commentable in case anyone else has issues or solutions and will be in the forums about it.

EDIT: If you have issues with starting on Windows 10 and run a 8+ core Ryzen, reduce your core count and it'll play! Doing that makes mine work perfectly.
