Left 4 Dead 2 is a must-have for zombie fans. This game is one of my favorite games I own on Steam.

The premise is simple: You and three other survivors must safely traverse a variety of hostile, zombie-filled environments in order to get to safety. Along the way however, literal hordes of zombies and unique mutated freaks will attempt to kill you in brutal (yet sometimes hilarious) ways.

Gameplay (5/5): Left 4 Dead 2 boasts a variety of fun-filled zombie-slaying game modes, ranging from surviving an endless horde of zombies to running frantically to a safe-house; you can even take control of zombies in an attempt to kill your human friends. The environments feel eerily real as you make your way through abandoned theme parks and murky swamps to The Big Easy itself. The game offers a variety of weapons to defend yourself: pistols, rifles, and even a frying pan (which produces perhaps the most-satisfying sound upon crushing a zombies skull). The zombies range from average, run-of-the-mill zombies to hulking monstrosities which can throw cars at you; all of which feel well-designed and balanced. The game itself posses several difficulty modes, ranging from easy to expert, all of which have drastically different feels to them. The skill curve is easy to follow along with however, and this game is able to be picked up and enjoyed by anyone.

Graphics (3/5): For a game that was launched in late-2009, the game still looks pretty darn good. Trash litters the floor of the abandoned carnival and the swamp water looks real enough to make you want to take a bath just thinking about it. However, compared to many modern games, the age of the graphics becomes more apparent (Luckily, there are many mods on the Steam Workshop which can improve the graphics quite a bit).

Sound (4/5): The game possesses great music to accompany your zombie slaying action. The zombies groan and yell like you'd expect, and the special infected sound creepy and like something you would hide in the closet from. The characters are both funny and realistic, making appropriate comments at seeing a fuel tanker being blown to pieces or groaning from a wound they just sustained. The game also has perhaps THE BEST rock and roll songs ever created specifically for a game (Go Midnight Riders!).

Replayability (5/5): This is where the game shines. This game can easily have all of the content completed in around a dozen hours or so, but you'll be left wanting to play it over and over again. Getting bored of slaying zombies with no one but the AI for a companion? Bring three friends along to ensure that hilarious zombie slaying action ensues. Gotten tired of playing the original campaigns? Go to the Workshop and download a new one (see my comments on the workshop below). This game can be played for years and you can never get bored with it.

Bonus: Workshop (10/10): This game has perhaps the best Workshop community out of any I know of. Whether you're looking for a reskin of the Military Sniper rifle to changing all of the survivors to velociraptors, this workshop has EVERYTHING: Reskins, gags, new content.....a mod that allows you to repeatedly listen to Ellis and his crazy stories. The workshop allows you to change everything in the game to anything you can think of, leading to hilarious scenarios that are otherwise impossible to find. The Steam Workshop is this game's biggest asset.

Total Rating (27/30): This game is a must-own on Steam, the community for the game is fantastic. I have never found myself wanting to play a game over and over the way I find myself with this one. A must-have!
