This game is easily a 9/10 for me. One of the absolute best games I have ever played in all aspects.

For me the only things where it loses that 1 point is it starts getting a bit much towards the end, as in wanting to find all of the collectables and running around in the final area to complete it all before finishing the story, but that was my choice. That and the bird telling me where things are started to get a little annoying too. But this is nitpicking and they arent issues at all really.

Combat is amazing. Pacing is amazing. Sound, visuals, art style. Especially the story, just... so good.

I would love to talk about certain points in the game, especially those 4 times it made me cry, but those are heavy spoilers. If you know, you know.

Easily recommend it, even at full price. This is just an amazing experience.

This is one game I will never forget.

Current:
The game is in a much better state, back to being a whole lot of fun and enjoyable. Weapons feel stronger and the power fantasy is there. But... there is still that sketchy past with how players were treated, how the game was treated, and just Sony and its banning 180 countries around the world from buying and playing. I dont understand that.

29-Nov-2024
It would seem that despite Sony saying that they are walking back the PSN requirement, they are still going to block 170+ countries from being able to purchase this game. They are also apparently doing this to all their games. If PSN isnt available in your country, you just lose.

So back to a negative review we go. We can keep playing this game Sony.

Freedom, Liberty & Democracy wins!
Now Sony just needs to unblock countries and give people their game back.

I loved this game. I met some great people playing it. Its such a shame that Sony has to ruin our fun.
So, Im doing my part.
I feel like Travis from Old Yeller having to put down his dog. I hate this.

This one is amazing!

The sound design is Aliens.
The atmosphere is Aliens. Its so immersive.
The story, characters, everything is so Aliens.

It sticks to whats established in the movies and more so well. I loved the movies and I loved this game. Just amazing.

When youre back at base it feels like the newer Xcom titles with the upgrades, research and just organizing and upgrading your troops, except, Aliens.

The missions are so intense! And immersive, the atmosphere! Its just... I so good! The squad chatter, the sound of pulse rifles and smart guns going off. Watching the ammo counters on the sentry turrets cause its wall to wall in there!

I think the only things that actually bothered me about the game was when a soldier got to level 3 and you got to pick their squad role/job, it was limited to 2 RNG choices, not all of them. So trying to get what I wanted to build proper squads was annoying, along with naming and making a soldier and being like, "This is my smart gunner!" then you dont get it. The only other thing that bothered me was getting a new soldier with the stubborn trait and he just picked everything I didnt want. So I gave him the call sign of a four letter word beginning with C and soon enough he was on the wall of remembrance.

Otherwise, minor things aside, amazing. Worth your money and your time. This is one group of devs who respect, stayed true too, and clearly are fans of the franchise.

I give it a: Squad of ULTIMATE badasses / 10.

I really enjoyed my time in this game and its first DLC and im also waiting for and looking forward to the remainder of the DLCs which I plan on getting.

The story was really good, the world building, lore, the alternate time line of how WW2 ended and where the world was at that point in time.

The art and style of the old soviet era that is applied to a lot of the deigns in the game. The buildings, robots and more.

The gun play and progression was really good. Inventory management was really good as well and I love how everything is explained and rooted in science, like just whipping a rocket launcher out of nowhere. I really liked how it also didnt punish you if you felt like changing things up with either abilities or how a certain weapon was upgraded, you got all of the materials back so you could just try new things and not have to grind, grind, grind.

Which there was no lack of enemies to kill for materials, which got a little frustrating at times but, I eventually just started to ignore and somewhat sneak past stuff.

Puzzles were also really enjoyable too, though I felt like some of them werent as good as they could have been. I did some harder ones that made me think some, actually use that brain matter, and then a couple were just straight forward, was a bit of a let down.

I will say that while I found everything good, really detailed and thought out and rooted in lore and the science in the game/story, it didnt feel as immersive as it could have been. Like it was too clean and sterile, but I guess that was the point of it trying to be some kind of utopia. It just felt like I was almost there in being fully drawn in, but not quite. Though towards the end I was there.

And speaking of utopia... The Twins. The Theater was a favourite area. A lot of interesting displays to view and enjoy.

The DLC was also really enjoyable and the fights were more intense, though much more arena focused. Was really good to have more story and lore. Like I said at the start, im looking forward to more of the DLC.

Also, that Boss of the Gym email that was slipped in there in the dlc on one of the computers. 10/10, amazing reference, hope theres even more. Not to mention all the other nods to other games in it.

Edit: Speaking of 10/10 and DLC, the sound track! Get it! Its so good! Cant believe I forgot to mention that.

I give it a: Robosexual/10

This is one of those games where I wish Steam had a "Eh" or something in between yes and no.

Its very mid in all of its aspects. The fps, the weapons, the abilities, progression... blah blah. Nothing really stood out as amazing, but also it wasnt a broken mess and downright horrible? Just... mid. Maybe a little under mid.

If you enjoy Rick & Morty and its on sale and you dont have much else to play? Sure, its amusing enough and entertaining enough to at least finish it. But thats about it.

Glad I got it on sale.

I give it a: Using your mouth to make a fart noise at the right time / 10. Sure it gets a giggle and its kinda amusing. But the moment passes quickly.

Amazing.

I never really got into the old Resident Evil games because of the camera angles and more so the limited inventory and having to manage all of that. But I feel like this one does it really well. I managed to finish it twice, so, for me that says a lot. Im sure the true fans that read this will shake their head at me for not getting all 5 endings. Im sorry okay, my 2nd time I got the Memory ending and I couldnt do more, it was so sad but I felt content.

The horror elements werent that bad at all really. Its a pixel art style on 3d so it was never going to. But it has tension and intense moments due to limited inventory, limited resources and the enemies and the types of enemies. Maybe a couple of jump scares? But thats just me.

The puzzles were amazing! I enjoyed that. It took me back to gaming as a kid. I was having to use windows notepad to take notes and figure out some crypto puzzles, and math etc. Its not that bad, just, I needed to do it for myself to figure these things out. Taking screenshots as well. I thought it was great, took me back and felt some nostalgia. Also glad that the character makes copies and documents everything for reference as well. So good.

I also noticed some of its inspirations as well, clearly old school Resident Evil games I feel. I feel like there was some Ghost in the Shell as well, and maybe even some Dead Space? I could be totally wrong, just what I took away from it.

The world building and the lore, the lore is so good. Just the story telling about the world you exist in and whats happened and gone on and is going on. For me it gave me just enough to make my mind wonder and think further, but I also felt like it wasnt enough! I want more!

The art was amazing, and cutscenes. I was mashing my screenshot button so much towards the end. Im even using one as a desktop right now. The in game scene of the memory ending, for those that know.

Anyway! Really good, really recommend it!

I give it a: That sad cat giving a thumbs up emoji / 10. So good, just, sad ending.

Actual trash game.

It has the gunplay of Doom 2016. So the guns and abilities are the only good bits.

The open world is something akin to the Warner Bros Mad Max game, but worse somehow. At least that Mad Max game was actually good.

The story is just terrible. From the start with how little depth and character growth there was, I was given no real reason to care for anyone in it or the world itself.

There are bugs in here that exist from 2019/20 as well. If I went to upgrade my car and moused over the upgrades, the game would hard lock and I would have to force it to close. Only work around was using the arrow keys. There are side missions that will hard lock themselves out of completing as they just will not complete at all.

The worst part was if you fast travel, die, get moved to a safe spot for whatever reason when you are on the final mission to take down the final boss, yeah, the mission just vanishes. The game tells you to go back to finishing old objectives despite them already being done. So it hardlocks you out of finishing the game completely. The only way around it is if HOPEFULLY you have a save that isnt too far away and you can catch up again.

Garbage game with years old bugs, some that are game breaking. I bought this on sale and played it this long because im stubborn and hate myself. Let this serve as a warning.

How people thumb this up I dont know. What a world we live in.

Edit:

I went off to play an actual good game but im still seething about this, so I return to add more issues that I found with this one.

There are still sound issues with this game as well. From sound cutting out to the combat music suddenly turning on for no reason and then cutting out shortly after.

With driving the vehicles, if you drove off a cliff and rolled it, or got into a bender with other vehicles and it messed with the camera angle, for me it would remain at that messed up camera angle until I got out of the car and back in again.

And speaking of camera's, its nice that we get an fov slider, but for some reason the fov goes to hell when you get into any vehicle.

There are also hard bound keys as well, despite being able to rebind everything. When I did the race track quest in the main story, I found out the hard way that E is hard bound to teleporting back onto the track, because Im a weirdo that uses EDSF. I had to rebind back to WSAD to be able to finish that quest and then went back to EDSF and just never bothered with racing again.

Theres also the flying copter vehicle you get where, again, despite the keybindings, and E for me being forwards/accelerate, I had to press W to go fowards.

Oh! The AI is bad as well. You see those big giant guys and think its gunna be hard? Its not. I could find a building or pillar/pole and get them caught on the edge of it so I could still see their arm/leg, and just stand there shooting them and they took it and just died.

This game is just a disappointment. With names like Id Software, Avalanche Studio and... well It is Bethesda, but! They are known for putting out good games... mostly.

This game is like the unwanted love child between Id Software and Avalance, where they both beat it with a shoe, put it in a burlap sack and tossed it into the back of a car. They then drove that car 10 miles out of town and dumped it at the end of a dead end street on the edge of a forest where the game now exists like the mutant that Dr.Kvasir uses as a pair of legs, (Just google Rage 2 Dr.Kvasir legs for an image). Just living in the edge of the forest that is Steam, waiting for that 80% off sale to come along and get its 10$ from some idiot like me thinking, "Hey this SHOULD be a decent game with Id Soft and Avalanche making it", and buys it.

Yes I know its an older title, and I wasnt expecting much, but I also wasnt expecting this.

I give this game a:

Really enjoyed this game and found trying to keep a rhythm harder than the combat itself, but the game isnt totally about just one aspect of it. Its an amazing mix of the combat, setting, theme, being a rhythm game and the music, wow... the music is just amazing. Every track is so good, I love it all.

The only thing that lets this game down SO MUCH is theres no official OST. I want an official OST with the mp4/flak/mp3/wav, whatever file versions of all the songs. So disappointed we cant just get the songs in a music format file to listen on other devices and such. Its SUCH a wasted opportunity that you can only enjoy the music in the game. I know the OST can be found on youtube, just cant believe the devs couldnt release one for whatever the reason is.

I give it a: Excited, positive, profanity that steam wont allow / 10. \m/

It took them a lot of work to get here. But were finally here. Its a good time to jump in and play this now with the fleshed out skill trees. The world building, atmosphere, sound design and music are great. Combat I personally find a lot of fun.

The parts they fell down on was crafting and looting as well as balancing everything. Theres a handful more things, but, look, the flying suicidal dogs that leap at you and die hitting the wall, or launch themselves into orbit are a great feature that should stay. Theres others too, but, theyve put a lot of effort in! I think it shows.

Were getting there!

I give it a: The Inquisition would be pleased. Just. / 10

So relaxing and chill. It tickles my OCD in a good way and I found myself playing for hours. I dont get how a game about cleaning can be like this, but it is, and I really enjoy it. Even with friends.

I give it a: Drawing certain... shapes... in dirt and giggling like a child / 10.
