As a long time Halo fan, this game is amazing at it's core and with the right amount of polishing here and there stands to be the best in the franchise since Halo 3. The sandbox is engaging, the weapons and equipment pickups all serve a purpose and it has a LOT of potential.

That being said the much discussed MTX/progression problems are very much there and while the game itself is still fun and enjoyable, as a Halo fan who loves customization as one of the series' pillars, it's worrying to say the least. I won't get too ranty in this review because it's been said already by folks with a much greater reach like HiddenXperia but it pains me to see such a great game be forced down one of the worst monetization roads ever and it's mainly because it is F2P.

I know eventually things will most likely iron out and while they won't be perfect, it brings joy to my heart that Halo is back, stronger and more accessible than ever. The campaign lookin' kinda spicy too.. December 8th can't get here soon enough!


UPDATE: 9/30/2022

Whatever is going on at 343i recently has killed any momentum for this game and it's one of the saddest things I've watched happen to my childhood for sure. Sure, Forge is coming and with it a lot of opportunity for the community to step in and make content themselves but the stain this game's launch left is gonna be there for a long while.

Cyberpunk 2.0 is now one of my favorite games to play.

Grab the expansion bundle and prepare to sink hundreds of hours into this City of Dreams.

Extremely accurate social interaction game.

Even better so if you like Unity models and even-even better if you like the Game Grumps.

Got an achievement for a character clipping through a door while I was having wrestle with her sister.

10/10.
