I LOVE Helldivers 2. That said, in its current state, I cannot recommend this product. In the last two updates, the game has reached a point of technical bloat that It freezes my entire PC every time I launch the game. Various online fixes (deleting shader cache, re-verifying files, etc etc) work as temporary fixes that let me play for maybe a few hours, but the spaghetti code catches up eventually. Until Arrowhead takes the time necessary to address the abundance of bugs, performance issues, and bloated install size, my review will remain negative.

Sea of Thieves is a fun game, one of my favorites, but it is not in a good state. I have over 2000 hours on this game across all the platforms I've played it on, from Technical Alpha to now.

Sea of thieves is a beautiful and unique experience. It is described by Rare as a "Shared World Adventure Game" this game is the only one of its kind (so far) and this is both its best draw and its worst flaw.

Over the course of the last year the game has slowly gotten more stagnant and repetitive then ever before. Rare has switched to a battlepass season model to their own detriment. Seasons launch with "major" content, and then are left to do nothing until the next season in 3 months. The main problem with this model is that the content is (as of late especially,) not enough to do. Season 5, for example, added
-cosmetic fireworks that are pretty much only used for roleplay.
-sitting (how is this a major feature?)
-buring treasure and posting your own treasure maps for other players to dig up. (a highly requested feature for years)

The buring treasure mechanic is extremely underdeveloped and has no reason to be used whatsoever besides doing a few commendations. (in game challenges to unlock cosmetics) there is no gold/xp reward besides a small helping of battlepass xp for posting your maps to other players. No matter what the value is of the item you bury, the same XP payout is given. So, why bury anything besides absolute garbage? Exactly. You dont. Thus, nobody digs up other player's maps because its all garbage, and then nobody makes maps after finishing the challenges to unlock some mediocre skins. Given this, the entire mechanic was completely dead and unused 2 weeks into the season that introduced it. Now there's nothing new to do for 3.5 months until season 6.

Season 6 came out today. Season 6 added 6 new "sea forts" a PvE encounter where you fight laughably weak enemies for roughly 5 minutes to get a meager reward in a beautifully modeled and designed Spanish naval fort. The problem is that this is like the 5th "easy AF boring PvE encounter with a beautiful environment and garbage reward" in the game. How is this supposed to engage players for a season? it already failed to engage players in season 4, which added effectively the same thing, but underwater. and there were 9 underwater locations, all of which were unique. Versus this season's 6 copy and pasted forts with less things to do, and an easier and less meaningful encounter.

Rare is on a path to slow and painful decline in numbers for Sea of thieves. I Love this game, but the developers are blind to what the game needs and what the players want. they do not put enough effort into their updates, and seem like they do not care. Adding one and done content and never touching it again is not a sustainable live service model. Update and Iterate on old systems, actually add new systems that provide something enriching to the experience. Please. Make sea of thieves good again.
