Fun little idle game, though you can definitely devote a lot of time to micro. Lots of systems and mini-games- all told, pleasantly surprised at the fun I got out of $5. I'd recommend.

Helldivers 2 is a game that has been marred by a developer unprepared for its success and a publisher, Sony, who really only became interested in it after its success. The PSN requirement that blocks access to large numbers of buyers who will now be region-locked out means the game, as released, was a scam if this was intentional from the beginning.

Even if that wasn't the case, the game was fun, but it has some major flaws and the constant dev-balance cycle where they chase after a vision like a dog chasing its own tail always leads to a worse and worse end result.

Early Access Review
Recommended, with a caveat - the game isn't finished and there are multiple small bugs and issues.. What is here, however, has a lot of potential.

The balancing between investigation/threat/banishment is very good. You feel the run-up to the danger (with the exception of one ghost, which has to be unlocked, that applies a damage over time and is immediately ID'd by this), and the reward for figuring out the ghost is a successful banishment.

The bugs are... well, its 0.2.28 as I write this review. The game needs more time and development. None of the bugs are fully gamebreaking, but they scream "this is early access" and needs more work.

Good Co-Opt game. Some bosses are extremely hard single player due to the constant adds.

New expansion adds a lot of content; definitely a good time and enjoyment investment. Really involved devs and community.

Good game, very atmospheric, only 10~ hours but cheaper than a movie and popcorn and much more entertaining.

Despite clunky console import controls, this game runs beautifully and impressively on a fast PC. Make sure to set your FOV slider in options to max.

In terms of gameplay, DD:DA is interesting in that the 'best part' of the game is going to be different for different people. Basically, you have to play it for a few hours and then something will 'click' and suddenly, you'll find yourself in a very rewarding experience.

Downsides: The best plot elements are all in the last part of the game.

Advice for new players: This is a game that is basically meant to be NG+'d. Feel free to try and 100% it your first time through, but if you miss something, get it the next time.
